I absolutely LOVE Tubular Bells II, and I prefer The Bell of that album over the original. But I entirely get why people prefer the original, it is an amazing album despite the many and obvious flaws.

Though preferring the 2003 re-recording over the original... Jones... You're a monster!

The new mix is great because it's very similar to the original, just so much cleaner. It's such a lovely mix, that doesn't do anything that wasn't needed like the '09 mix. Which is still a great mix to be fair, but personally I was just never that big a fan of it. It's lovely that there's an option ...

Finally got my blu-ray of the 50th Anniversary in and gave the new 2023 Stereo mix a go, it's a lovely new mix and I greatly prefer it over the 2009 mix that Oldfield did himself in all honesty. I've always opted for the original '72 mix, but the new mix is honestly really good and might be my go to...

Huh, two LP? Original release was a single record iirc and two of the tracks were CD exclusive. Seems like a pretty cool little release!

It's really a shame that the record seems lost to time. Was there no demand that all sales after the auction needed to be communicated to Dreyfus? The record was never expected to gain a commercial release. The auction was to raise funds for the artists whose work was soundtracked by the album play...
