Welcome to the new BlahBlahCafe!

We have migrated to a new server. As with every migration, some things might have been lost in translation (at least, that's my experience in software development). The main problem is logging in into the boards. These could be caused by several reasons:

- Your browser cache & cookies need to be cleared because we moved to a new server. If you get the error message whilst logging: "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.", you need to clear your cache & cookies. You can find a "Delete cookies" option at the bottom of this page.

- There is also a chance that your password is not correctly converted to the new system. This is a known bug with migrating the system. The only solution is to request a new password, there's a link on the form that will send an email to you to create a new password. If that fails, I can set a password for you, you can contact us at the "Contact us" link at the bottom of the page.

Re: Stéphane Gervais (aka PsychNerD)

#One important thing to appreciate is JmJ's generosity openness in all this. JmJ clearly mentioning Michel on albums, having Michel prominently in Houston, Lyon, Docklands, LaDefense. JmJ didn't have to be this generous open. JmJ could have hidden Michel away if JmJ had anything to hide. Similarly S...

Re: Stéphane Gervais (aka PsychNerD)

I will listen to these Stephane tracks as I enjoy Stephane's music. ## Remember on the internet anyone can say anything. Without evidence without specifics it's hogwash. Instead of throwing things around, you both need to be specific. You both need to have evidence. (Remember someone could make up t...

Re: Stéphane Gervais (aka PsychNerD)

Stephane is superb. I have a lot of time for Stephane. Jote this is such a stretch. Michel Geiss himself refuted in a detailed interview everything you wrote. I really don't know why you persist with such nonsense. Did JmJ hurt you ignore you is this why. IMHO, it's no nonsense. It makes perfect sen...

Re: Stéphane Gervais (aka PsychNerD)

I wanted to ask Stephane exactly what he did for JmJ. Sound design for sure. Sequencing to some extent. For those unaware Stéphane worked with JMJ as production assistant between ≈2013 and 2018 and he's quite obviously the person responsible for JMJ's big style shift during that era (E1/2, O3, EI, H...

Re: "Que vas-tu faire" is early Calypso 3

Interest for me is whether JmJ played piano and guitar on this.
It's pretty nice playing in context of song.
Mature understated.

Re: "Que vas-tu faire" is early Calypso 3

(Also reminds me of the similarities between the last part of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb (namely the PULSE version) and Calypso 3's last part (especially in the 2009-2011 tour), both coincidentally featuring solos of some kind) For sure from 55sec onwards https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3duAGTJ_QJ...

Re: Bells synth

Appreciated Blat & Wax. I'm interested to find where JmJ borrowed from. Silent Hill horror game series starting 1999 soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka, probably one of the more well known use of Spectrasonics Distorted Reality. JmJ really likes Eric Persing's sound design starting from Roland D50 for ...

Re: Vangelis LATEST NEWS

I just purchased the 3vinyl Vangelis box set 1982 : Opera Sauvage, China, Chariots of Fire. Mainly because of Opera Sauvage and 20 minute exploration improvisation on Chariots of Fire. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uucvvRY7n98 I wish JmJ would do 20min 40min exploration in his impressionistic style ...

Re: Remi Gaillard

I can say there was No Electronic Music as Oxygene 2 before 1976. 1947-1976 Everyone else's Electronic music was similar to someone else or borrowing from someone else. Just the space fx parts and the Synth wave parts existed before in some other music. The bass is standard syncopated bass. The rhyt...

Re: Unedited Waiting for Cousteau

New member here. Years ago the unedited Waiting for Cousteau track (75 mins) was shared on Youtube under the name 'Concert d'images', of which I was lucky enough to download the audio (mp3) back then. I'm convinced this IS the original version, since there's no repetition of any part during the who...

Re: Revolution track the inspiration for first Trance track of the genre

Rubycon seq starts from 7min22 continues builds to 10min32 crescedo. There is resemblance rhythmically, also a little resemblance in the notes. That's it. **** Rubycon 28min52 has the synth waves. Fire 1968 num1 hit by Arthur Brown right at the end has synth waves that 1970s Electronica Pioneers Kla...

Symphonic Electronica that inspired Vangelis Re: Vangelis LATEST NEWS

In analysing 70 years Electronic music 1947-2020 some interesting things have come to light. Symphonic Electronica that inspired Vangelis. It wasn't Wendy Carlos 1968 Switched on Bach. It wasn't Isao Tomita 1974 Snowflakes Are Dancing, 1975 Pictures at an Exhibition. These were synth workings of exi...

Revolution track the inspiration for first Trance track of the genre

Berlin School Tangerine Dream from Phaedra 1974, Rubycon 1975, Ricochet 1975, is the GrandDaddy of commercial Trance, Trance from Paul Van Dyk, ATB, BT, Armin Van Buren. Klaus Schulze named it Trance in his 1981 Album Trancefer, then again 1988 En=Trance. Various Cosmic Trance, Psy Trance from 1995-...
