Just finished Equinoxe Infinity. There's certainly a lot about it that I enjoyed, being that Jarre certainly messed around with a lot of ideas here. There's never a dull moment, the production was generally solid, and it ultimately leaves you wanting to revisit it. I will say that this definitely is ...

You know what? Movement 6 has actually been my favorite track so far from what's been shown to us. The other tracks sounded nice enough, but Infinity has gotten me to listen to it multiple times, as I do think it's a legitimately fun track. Granted, I don't know if it's because I'm younger and thus ...

The videos posted on instagram that Kanta shared with us clearly show JMJ playing on a track for the album, so unless his contribution was removed or buried deep in the final mixes it seems JMJ's collaboration had at least some artistic element to it ...

As a Gorillaz track, I very much appreciate it for the act continuing to do what they're best at, and it's certainly a catchy tune.

However, as I have expected (based off of what I've heard of Electronica), the JMJ involvement seems to be pretty minimal here. It just seems more like he's merely a ...

Which is why vinyl will continue to prevail in sales. Because the mastering engineer continues to remain a dick on digital media.

Wow! How much did you guys have to pay for them? I was lucky to have an 80s CD that didn't have the cracks on Equinoxe 3 for $8 (It still had the remixed 5 though).

You should listen to the first CD editions (aka the Red Face Editions) of Oxygene, Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields. They're direct vinyl master transfers with Equinxe being the most obvious one: it's the only one having the "vinyl" version of Equinoxe 5!

They are regarded as the best versions as a ...

I'll tell you a secret: that's why vinyl was replaced by CDs in the 80s...

I'll tell you another secret: vinyl doesn't have the same mastering issues that CD can, meaning it'll end up sounding better automatically if your digital master is brickwalled to hell.

Seriously, if CDs today were ...

Listen very closely in Oxygene 8, because that's where I heard it the best. Throughout the track it drops at least three times over the track. It's outright bizarre.

I do notice it now. Especially comparing it the vinyl rip of the original. How this managed to pass is very brain scratching. As ...

That's not the problem I have on the rip I have. The real problem is the disappearing treble at multiple points throughout the entire album. It's terrible!

Huh. That's not a thing I noticed on either of these rips that I have recently acquired. I'd be interested in hearing your copy if I'll ...

My current reaction to the vinyl rips on RuTracker :

Oxygene 3 solo : It's a bit fuzzy and loud sounding, seeing as it isn't as cleaned up as I'm used to vinyl rips being, but it's still better than the CD (the sample and bit rate is excessive though). I've also noticed some additional ...

CD?
It's the solo vinyl rip taken from RuTracker. The frequencies and Russian text give it away.

There's also an Oxygene Trilogy rip done by another person on there. Time to hear what the off-center issue is like (if present).

I know that many people find this an adequate album, but that may be because they do not listen much varying kinds of electronic music, or play themselves. When you listen to a lot of variety, you start to see where the quality lives. And when you play synths (or any musical instrument) yourself ...
