Welcome to the new BlahBlahCafe!

A new server, a new environment. Updated and all.

As with every migration, some things might have been lost in translation (at least, that's my experience in software development). The main problem is logging in into the boards. These could be caused by several reasons:

- Your browser cache & cookies need to be cleared because we moved to a new server. If you get the error message whilst logging: "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.", you need to clear your cache & cookies. You can find a "Delete cookies" option at the bottom of this page.

- There is also a chance that your password is not correctly converted to the new system. This is a known bug with migrating the system. The only solution is to request a new password, there's a link on the form that will send an email to you to create a new password. If that fails, I can set a password for you, you can contact us at the "Contact us" link at the bottom of the page.

Re: Opening tracks at concerts

Paris La Defense does fit this pattern if you consider the Waiting For Cousteau title track was played across the city in the hours before the concert officially started.

Re: What happened to the Tokyo concert?

As far as I remember, there was intended to be another Destination Docklands show in Lyon in '89 - where the buildings used as screens would have been demolished as the finale! Jean-Michel was a little too ambitious for the 'Destination....' concept - the London Docklands show was intended to span ...

Re: What is the name of the two large clear plastic boxes?

Wow - I'd forgotten about that. Thanks! CPLT is really quite special. Without the the canvas of buildings, via a mega backdrop of vertical skyscrapers or a horizontal panorama of buildings (e.g. PLD, Houston, Lyon) so much attention was on the stage. It was the last time in my opinion that combinati...

Re: What is the name of the two large clear plastic boxes?

Thanks. I def think they are a LAG creation too. Just wish I knew the name. I recall a short video clip, in his Croissy studio, around the time of Zoolook, when he was demonstrating CMI Fairlight sampling, and these boxes were in his studio. He showed how he could play back a sample thru the boxes. ...

Re: What happened to the Tokyo concert?

Yeah, I remember seeing the Mark Fisher Tokyo drawings. The drawings also appeared in a book about architectural designs, that was in an office where I used to work. Thanks for the explanation about why Tokyo didn't go ahead.

Re: Which concerts had three-part movement concepts?

Thanks!

So Paris La Défense didn't have a similar "story telling structure" ? I thought with it being the conclusion of a year of celebration of the 200th anniversary of the revolution (1789- 1989) that there may have been some conceptual baggage involved.

Re: What is the name of the two large clear plastic boxes?

Does nobody know what these boxes are called? They must have a name! Can you image the concert planning for Lyon in 1986? JMJ: "Well, we start off with me walking down the steps slowly with the custom painted Yamaha. Meanwhile, Michel Geiss will be playing the plastic boxy things. Then, as we g...

Re: Why did Houston take such a risk on a JMJ concert?

Interesting - I wonder if the musical link with Ron McNair actually came first? And it was simply be a musical project, without any connected concert? But only later, the idea of the concert came along? And it grew from there? I always thought the concert idea was the beginning of the project, and t...

Re: Is the Moscow crowd size really accurate?

I see! I didn't realise about the screens or the counting of people from much further out that could see the fireworks. Fair enough! Strange thing about Moscow is that it wasn't really a "city in concert" - using downtown buildings as the stage! - it was more like a "a single universi...

Re: Does JMJ look back on Oxygene 7-13 with some regret?

Yeah, both good points Shadow and Dr Jones. Hadn't thought of that way, that music from 7-13 has appeared in the live sets recently. Good points. I just feel there were some missed opportunities to wrap the whole trilogy together when Oxygene 14-20 came out. Anyways, I've been doing a lot of running...
