Re: Why the anglicised spelling of album titles?

:D Yes, me too! I'd never file anything as Chronology!

Re: Does JMJ look back on Oxygene 7-13 with some regret?

Yeah, both good points Shadow and Dr Jones. Hadn't thought of that way, that music from 7-13 has appeared in the live sets recently. Good points. I just feel there were some missed opportunities to wrap the whole trilogy together when Oxygene 14-20 came out. Anyways, I've been doing a lot of running...

Re: Who did all the pop-art graphics?

Just had a look at her site. JMJ at the Sochi Olympic opening ceremony is also listed, in 2013. Although the show itself was 2014, I think.

Does JMJ feel awkward about the mega-concert legacy?

In interviews since Electronica onwards, JMJ has played down the significance of the mega concerts in his career, often saying he was somewhat distracted by these to the detriment of the music. But for me, these concerts are the defining thing and what makes his life and works special. So it was goo...

Which concerts had three-part movement concepts?

Rendezvous Houston had a 3-part structure to the show – Rural Space, Urban Space and Outer Space. Destination Docklands also had a similar 3-part structure – Industrial Revolution, Cultural Revolution and Computer/Communications Revolution. Did Paris La Défense also have a 3-part structure? If so, w...

Does JMJ look back on Oxygene 7-13 with some regret?

Do people think JMJ is not so proud of Oxygene 7-13? In all the press and publicity he did for Oxygene 3 in late 2016 he almost never mentioned the 1997 release. He just referenced the 40 year anniversary of the original. Maybe this was just to keep his interviews shorter and more focused, but I tho...

Why the anglicised spelling of album titles?

My favourite JMJ album is Chronologie, in part because it came out in 1993, an important year in my life. While Oxygene and Equinoxe have always retained their French spelling, how and why did Chronologie become Chronology as the reissue? It is unthinkable that Oxygene would be repackaged as Oxygen!...

For how long was JMJ a student at the GRM?

For how long was JMJ a student at the GRM? One report I read says it was only for a few weeks; other reports say it was several years. Is there any official record of this?

Is the Moscow crowd size really accurate?

Crowd size of Moscow is listed as 3.5 million yet if you measure the space in front of the university building it comes to approx. 31 hectares (310,000 sq. metres). If we assume 7 people per square metres, which is really packed in tight and the concert footage shows more relaxed groupings amongst t...

What happened to the Tokyo concert?

The Revolutions album contains London Kid and Tokyo Kid, a recognition that two concerts were planned around that time. While London did go ahead (eventually!) why was the Tokyo show cancelled? Which part of the city was due to host the show?

Who did all the pop-art graphics?

Did JMJ use a resident artist for the amazing pop-art graphics at Houston, Lyon, Dockland, La Défense and Europe in Concert? Those colourful and ambiguous art prints of famous people, digital creatures and blinking eyes are so evocative of mid 1980s JMJ concerts. I really miss them as the visuals fo...

Did the Lyon concert request come after the Houston concert?

I am guessing that JMJ was approached to organise and perform Rendezvous Lyon after the Houston concert, not before? Is this correct? Only once the publicity that followed the Houston success made his concert format more widely known. If so, that means it was organised in just 6 months which is supe...

Why did Houston take such a risk on a JMJ concert?

Given that Place de la Concorde was his only previous outdoor show at that time, and it happened seven years’ earlier, how, and why did Houston get in touch and then agree to a show format that was pretty much untested, and indeed, ‘dated’ by this point? I know he was approached by the Houston Opera...
