Synner wrote:Interesting that the Supermarkets demo is copyright 2018 according the CD booklet, and not 1983.
That's purely for copyright reasons. If it was 1983 the copyright could have lapsed by now. That's one of the reasons why music keeps being reissued.

Equinoxe 5 is weird. The stereo mix - probably mixed down from surround - has a ridiculously wide main lead.

MfS was basically a gesture against the CD marketing. Well nowadays there are other formats, so... MFS was a gesture against the recording industry in general - the way they were marketing music “like toothpaste, washing machines and fridges”. As CD’s we’re in their infancy then, IMO I’d say...

Curious if it ends up being actually anything. Hearing The Sun in studio recording would be absolutely amazing! I fear it may be a Ditchwater master on CD 1 and a disc of those awful remixes on CD 2 - if it get's released at all. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but JMJ's Sony reissues second time aro...

The vinyl / cassette version is a proper bespoke edit. I uploaded a vinyl rip to the (dead) database here a few years back ...

Oxygene 3 is a masterpiece in my opinion. JMJ pulled off the very difficult trick of a current album with Oxygene style themes without falling back on old glories. As JMJ said it's Oxygene as written today ... Oxygene 14, 15, 17 and 20 are as good as anything JMJ has ever written. Remarkable conside...

However, as I have expected (based off of what I've heard of Electronica), the JMJ involvement seems to be pretty minimal here. The videos posted on instagram that Kanta shared with us clearly show JMJ playing on a track for the album, so unless his contribution was removed or buried deep in the fi...

The more I listen to Oxygene 3 ... It's far too squished, it doesn't suit the material at all, which needs to be light and ethereal.
Which is why I ripped from the vinyl - here's a Oxygene 17 comparison

Vinyl can never come close to fidelity in a million years, and inevitably imparts a variety of audio distortions all of which are objectively measurable Again, I agree. The problem is that the so called 'loudness war' has meant mastering has become so loud that vinyl - with all the limitations you ...

that's a very odd way to think about it

CD, with its 44.1kHz 16bit PCM audio, *can* come very close perfect fidelity if the mastering engineer isn't a total dick.
.. and if the mastering engineer is a total dick ?
My point precisely.

You won't get much change from anything between €80 - €300 ...
