Re: Keyboards magazine no 35, July/August 1990

This was right before the La Defense concert. A friend of mine bought this magazine because he was in Paris a few days before the concert. He and his family had to go to the south of France so he missed the concert, he's still mourning it. He and his family had to go to the south of France so he mi...

Re: Sensorium and electronic music legend Jean-Michel Jarre partner up to co-create a virtual world and exclusive shows

As a co-creator of Motion, Jarre will be sound engineering this virtual world dedicated to mindfulness, helping build an immersive sonic environment that conveys a sense of presence through highly engaging visuals and sound. Taking the shape of a mysterious underwater land, Motion lets users reinvi...

Re: AOR Ballet

Yup, but for all we know this Ethnicolor scream could have been done for AOR and then reused on Zoolook. I often wonder how many elements of Equinoxe were developed or prepared during or before Oxygene, or even earlier, but then were put to one side for another time. Sequences, melodies and rhythms...

Re: Amazonia

Also, I attended the opening day of the Amazonia exhibition in London on 13th October 2021 .... I'll try and post a report soon. It was definitely worth seeing the images with the music and listening to the music with the images - as intended by both SS and JMJ.

Re: Amazonia

There are only so many ways to say these things, and only so many times a poor mortal can hear them. On the face of it, Salgado’s enormous exhibition, set to an immersive soundscape by Seventies new-age pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, sounds more impressive than impactful. Salgado is everyone’s idea of ...

Re: Give me a Sign / Akropolis

I knew about the "Akropolis" and "Give Me A Sign" link. In the same way, the opening track of the Concerts In China "The Overture" is the first movement of "Magnetic Fields Part 1" slowed down. Meanwhile, "Aero" and "Je Me Souviens" share t...

Re: What came first, the art or the music?

This article suggests that the artwork was already called Oxygene and that JMJ then used that name for the music: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/oct/16/jean-michel-jarre-michel-granger-oxygene It was 1976 and I was having my first major show in Paris. On display was a 30x40cm watercolour cal...

What came first, the art or the music?

I am looking for clarity on the origins of the Oxygene name as different reports suggest different things. Here goes, which one is correct? A) Michel Granger produced a painting, and it was called Oxygene. JMJ saw this in an exhibition and wanted to use the art as the cover for his new album, at tha...
