Jean-Michel Jarre: "There is a connection between classical and electronic music"
The French musician will perform this March 22 at Luna Park with a show of visuals and electronic music, a discipline in which he was a forerunner 40 years ago after training as a classical musician.
Son of the three-time Oscar-winning composer Maurice Jarre, Jean Michel made his career without the need to go to his father's name and forged a career that quickly established him as a reference in the use of synthesizers and keyboards.
Jarre's work, now 69 years old, is so vast that it has influenced bands ranging from Daft Punk to Radiohead, to others like Muse. In addition, despite using electronic elements, its source of inspiration is the nature and the elements that surround the human being and his environment.
"I defend the protection of the environment and that is present, but I also want to make people go through different emotions. What I always try to achieve between the visuals and what I play is that my fans create their own story in their mind, their own movie, "the musician said in a report with Télam.
And with respect to the show, he explained: "Obviously you want to show people that you want their thoughts, and I love the audience that comes to my concerts so I love telling you what I believe and my convictions. If we both see this concert we may have different perceptions, ideas and emotions in our mind. That's what I like".
For the show that was to be offered at GEBA last November and was suspended, you had designed visuals and graphics for an open place. This time he plays in a closed place, does this imply changes?
Jean Michel Jarre: This will be the first concert of the year. The interesting thing is that I created it from the beginning to be able to be played both in an open and closed place. Obviously it's different to play in a closed place, but I love being at Luna Park because I can play with the dark and that's important. I changed some things that I think will be spectacular. For this show, between GEBA and Luna Park, I prefer the second one.
