What happened to the Tokyo concert?

The Revolutions album contains London Kid and Tokyo Kid, a recognition that two concerts were planned around that time. While London did go ahead (eventually!) why was the Tokyo show cancelled? Which part of the city was due to host the show?

Plans for Destination Tokyo were there. Mark Fisher was involved, he made some concept art which was later published in the book "Rock Sets":

It was planned in 1988, but then Docklands happened with all the delays so it was postponed to 1989. Unfortunately, that year emperor Hirohito died and all festivities were cancelled. By that time, JMJ was already working on Waiting for Cousteau and La Defense.

Yeah, I remember seeing the Mark Fisher Tokyo drawings. The drawings also appeared in a book about architectural designs, that was in an office where I used to work. Thanks for the explanation about why Tokyo didn't go ahead.

As far as I remember, there was intended to be another Destination Docklands show in Lyon in '89 - where the buildings used as screens would have been demolished as the finale! Jean-Michel was a little too ambitious for the 'Destination....' concept - the London Docklands show was intended to span the whole of the Thames nearby and not just the Royal Victoria Dock - with the stage motoring up and down the river, tracked by helicopter mounted searchlights, whilst London watched from the banks. Until real life and London weather intervened.

That Lyon concert idea using buildings that would then be demolished? I think that idea was revived around 1991. I recall a Conductor of the Masses issue saying there were plans for a Lyon concert on the outskirts, in the suburbs somewhere. A housing estate with several tower blocks.
