having talked about addictive synthesis with virtual instruments (VST-Reason),
I wonder if you know this one: Supersonic
http://solcitomusica.blogspot.com.ar/p/virtuales.html

or is interested in trying it.

Woah wasn't expecting this to sound like much...
The age knob is both hilarious and profound.

Holy crap some at some of the presets! For 8 bucks this kinda sounds like a hardware synth.
Just playing to Vangelis lead right now, such fun.

You should email the dev and tell him to change on the gui "Depht" to "Depth" and "Frec" to "Freq" - that had me laughing.

Haven't had this much fun with a digital synth in a while. :fine:

I'm not sure. It seems very useful though. I'm really liking it.

Not RMI sounds though. No VSTi can do that ...yet.

Esp since the RMI HS doesn't use standard sine waves, but square waves. Sine waves produce a less interesting spectrum, even when you use 16 of them. Iow, close but no cigar.

Reaktor could do it now :p :peacemaan:

There's a new module called Sine Bank which allows you to have infinite partials of spectrum (depending of your sampling rate of course)

I can confirm that the sound quality is definitely better in high frequency that a "simple" oscillator.

There are cool tuto which explain how works this new module

So i'm trying to make a RMI emulation on reaktor since a couple of days.
And it's not going to be easy !
I've already made the basic with some tuto preset (with "simple" OSC) that i've modified ; it's just look like this.

Cool, but.. sine waves?
Analog-Umph wrote RMI HS actually used square waves (I didn't know that till today).

Yup, that's why it sounds so raw and rough around the edges. Very metallic, at other times very cheezy. If that means anything.

There was a guy here who actually had access to someone's RMI and he made an ensemble in Reaktor from the research he did.
But he would not share it with anyone. It was ok, relatively useful, but you could tell it was software.

In fact here is a pic of it:

Yes i've been looking for that one since months, but the link as change....

So has the guy won't share his work, i'll just gonna make mine...but there are poor ressources on the web about this gear...

I found some sounds of the rmi on soundcloud, harmonics by hamonics, that's very helpful.

But the way works the envelope and the filter => no idea

I promise i'll share the reaktor ensemble if i can get something correct.

Square waves ARE sine waves :peacemaan: Fourrier Man !

i have to generated a square signal from multiple harmonics of sine bank, and then i guess play with the harmonics and digital multiplier.

With sine wavaform, i'm comming close to Oxy5 bass sequence, but missing high harmonics for the "raw attack" (guess you'll understand me)

I have downloaded everything from the web about the HS, except the hardware itself.

Anything you need?

Here is what that guy's emu sounded like:

Yeah, that's exactly what you get from using the square wave waveform as the base.
Sinewaves come out way too smooth and you'd probably need 256+ harmonics to get the same result.

Actually what I was meaning Beeloo.
I know that phyiscally all sound is basically sine waves... :P
but using square waves will short the road you have to ride to get the RMI sounds.

So, someone did it? :)
The Oxy5 bass sounds good to me.

an old thread talking about RMI HS
http://www.zoolook.nl/forum/viewtopic.p ... c&start=30

among users: LeoDav, ZooTook (the one who programmed the Reaktor VCS3 and Synthex patch I tlaked about in the other thread), a new user called Analog-Umph (but I don't know who is this one :P )

Doesn't have enough analog umph
Seriously though, the harmonics are focused towards the mids, instead of being bass heavy.

LOL, I remember some of those old threads, was an exciting time, to discover the unknowns.

Tried the Supersonico.
I noticed it has thre kind of waves for the osc: sine, sawtooth and square.
Indeed the difference is notable...
perhaps the synth has too few harmonics (just five) you can add... to get the RMI HS sounds.

However not a bad VST: original.

I found news also about this other one:
http://bserrano.free.fr/Synths_Dionysos.html
hybrid subtractive, FM and addictive.
Different approach from the pictures it seems.

is this the Addictive Synthesis momentum?!?
Got in the daily news another VSTi with Addictive Synthesis
http://tonebytes.com/harmonaut/
32 drawable harmonics with separate ADSR per harmonic
4 waveform types (sine, saw, triangle and square)

could be make anything near RMI HS tones?

yesterday I played a bit with Omnisphere parameters and found that with a notch filter and an extreme setting of Cutoff Offset it adds some particular harmonics. Using the right soundsources and Omnisphere uncommon Unison section I did a sound that could maybe resembles something made with RMI HS.
No, not the Oxygene4 lead (perhaps I had to work much more for it), but something original and unheard I think.
Could be useful for the future compositions (also for bass sounds).

I need everything :p

What i really need for now is the different default "preset" sound :

- Clarinet
- Pulse
- Flute
- horn
- Reed

to see how they it really sounds.
