Sensorium and electronic music legend Jean-Michel Jarre partner up to co-create a virtual world and exclusive shows

Jean-Michel Jarre: "VR is a new form of art, still on the verge of a full-scale bloom & boom. To unveil the true potential of technology and create worlds that people can fall in love with, artists need to work hand-in-hand with the best tech companies. Sensorium shares this vision, and our partnership offers an exciting opportunity to explore the interactions of humans and art in virtual reality. It's also a way for me to share created-by-me worlds and performances not only with contemporary fans around the world, but also with the future generations".

As a co-creator of Motion, Jarre will be sound engineering this virtual world dedicated to mindfulness, helping build an immersive sonic environment that conveys a sense of presence through highly engaging visuals and sound.

Taking the shape of a mysterious underwater land, Motion lets users reinvigorate their mind and spirit with meditation practices and relaxing dance performances. By permeating this environment with immersive sounds, carefully composed through the use of binaural beats and natural sounds, Jean-Michel Jarre will help deliver sonic messages for the mind and soul.

I'm thinking WFC with EōN visuals?

After Facebook, Jean-Michel Jarre urgently wants "a French metaverse"

The musician, also keen on new technologies, sees it as an issue of cultural sovereignty.

It's no secret that Jean-Michel Jarre is very involved in new technologies. Ambassador of the Russian start-up Sensorium Galaxy, presented last week at the Web Summit in Lisbon, the musician is one of the headliners of this digital universe which wants to offer "high-end" cultural immersive experiences such as exhibitions or shows. virtual reality shows. "We urgently need to create a French metaverse", pleaded Jean-Michel Jarre, while American giants like Facebook but also foreign startups aspire to build the parallel digital universe of the future.

The platform, carried by billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, should be launched at the end of the year. Other artists like DJs David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, or Eric Prydz have already confirmed exclusive concerts. While tech giants, like Facebook, and video game companies, like Fortnite or Roblox, are investing colossal sums to build their own "metaverse", can the Sensorium Galaxy project coexist with such ambitions? “Not only can this coexist but, at the same time, I think we urgently need to create a metaverse, a French virtual reality platform,” insists Jean-Michel Jarre, who sees it as an issue of cultural sovereignty. "Collaborating with Sensorium Galaxy does not exclude that my priority is to be able to achieveautonomy is found in France and in Europe "(...)

In this session, hear from electronic music icon Jean-Michel Jarre and Sensorium Galaxy's Sasha Tityanko as they discuss how we need to change the way we look at VR and why we need to approach it from a different perspective. It appears that this article includes an embedded 48 second You Tube clip with JMJ's new music, for Motion. It def sounds like it could be from him.

Hmm, I don't know. It could be, but in the past we've heard several things that were speculated to be JMJ but weren't. Even the background music on the official JMJ website.

Be a real shame if Motion has been released as a teaser with "holding music" if that particular VR world is being marketed as a JMJ co-creation. There seems to be a great opportunity here to revisit stuff around the time of Cousteau and Palawan - that watery, endless WfC type approach to sound - but link this to the tech behind EoN and now add the visual element too. A nice switch away from the beats-heavy Electronica and Equinoxe Infinity, and recent "live" stuff like WTTOS. Amazonia shows that JMJ is still inclined to go ambient/atmospheric when it comes to sound design.

Wasn't there once (2009?) a track on JMJ's website (or some promo video) which sounded like it had been made by someone else due to some sample used, which caused a bit of an "uproar" as people accused JMJ of stealing it from someone else, and eventually it was taken down from his site with no comment?

... and then someone pointed out that Equinoxe 7 from 12DOTS (IIRC) had already used that sample years before, thus invalidating the "JMJ stole this track!" comments?

Very vague and muddy description, I know ;)
