SXSW 2023 - The Eye and I Vol. I

This story comes from the French word "surveillance", which in English originally referred to “eyes in the sky”, or a pair of eyes above us watching everything that happens below. "The Eye and I "is a VR work that reveals a surveillance crisis while inspiring audience self-reflection." Viewers will be able to explore the origin and development of "The Eye and I", and learn about the intertwined story of human society and "surveillance". After a series of dark journeys, viewers learn how "surveillance" is embedded in our culture in various forms and even affects our perception of reality. "The Eye and I" aims to help people escape the surveillance framework and its constraints.

Ever since Jean-Michel Jarre took us into 2021 with a New Year live-stream concert set in the virtual environment of the Notre-Dame de Paris and performed for 75m viewers and virtual partygoers from around the world, it has been clear that XR technology has the potential to completely change the way music is both consumed and created. This panel of working XR artists and professionals will explore how XR and the music industry are becoming inextricably linked and the ways this relationship will evolve in the future. XR technology allows both artist and audience to play an active role in shaping virtual and immersive musical processes while acting act as a bridge between traditional analog music and digital technology.
