I have no idea honestly, I barely listen to the remastered CD since it's rather sucky. I only listen to my selfmade Vinyl rip and that comes with hiss/noise from the vinyl rather then the mastering :P

Exactly what happens in the transition between Pt 5 and Pt6? The transition is flawless! It's almost like the rhythm and backing track just continues from Pt 5 into Pt 6, but if you try to play the Pt 5 main melody on top of Pt 6 you find that it just doesn't fit. I've always tried to get my head around this transition, but I just can't figure out what's going on. Where does 5 end and 6 start?

Also: I'm a bit confused about where Pt 7 starts. According to the time written on my original LP pressing, Pt 7 starts after the build up that Jarre always includes when playing Pt 7 live. This means that the intro to Pt 7 was originally the end of Pt 6.

On my first CD pressing of the album, this is also the point where the track indicator on the CD player changes from 6 to 7, but on the remastered version of Equinoxe, the track changes from 6 to 7 at en earlier point, but not from the beginning of what you would assume was the start of 7.

A question for the owners of these CD releases:
https://www.discogs.com/Jean-Michel-Jar ... se/1402830
https://www.discogs.com/Jean-Michel-Jar ... se/1005209

Is this an Equinoxe release:
https://www.discogs.com/Jean-Michel-Jar ... ase/131463

is loudly similar to Oxy and MF? I am asking because I had listened to the above editions and found that for the French market these versions of the albums sound much quieter than the German ones. Could someone insert peak levels of this release if they have e.g. in Audacity?

I don't own these pressings, but the loudness war doesn't happen until after 1990, with Guns n' Roses being the early offenders.

Could someone please help me to provide links based on discogs, what are the first vinyl Equinoxe releases (e.g. French, German or UK editions) that already include the new Equinoxe 5 version, which is on most CD reissues?

I think it's the ones marked (LP, Album, RE), which is from 1979 and further.

I love his videos. He does great research on music and does fantastic reproductions. Plus, his presence is contagious. I really dig him talking about this album.

Chronologie was the closest he ever got to the depth and quality of Equinoxe. I've really enjoyed Oxymore - lively, inventive, different, thoughtful - but for me, Chronologie represents the last of an era that started with Oxygene in 1976.

The next era began with Oxygene 7-13 and although there have been interesting and inventive moments since (esp Metamorphoses and Oxymore) there's been too much 'looking back' (Equinoxe Infinity, Oxygene 3) and nothing really close to the consistent quality of that first era, 1976-1993.

He'll always be a hero though!

A really good (co-)producer should be used nowadays...

I think that's what Geiss, Garraud and Gervais' functions in the studio were.
