The versions are held against four criteria :
  • Waveform and dynamique comparison
  • Spectrum comparisons
  • Spectrogram comparisons
  • Spatialization (for the 5.1 version only)
For vinyl editions there's also points for (lack of) surface noise.

Dynamic range:

The spectrum analysis is interesting. Obviously the vinyl editions do slightly better because of the cutoff on digital media. But the most interesting thing I read was this:
The graph below represents the frequency response of Ed12 Oxygen 3D stereo (White) vs Ed10 Qobuz (Blue). The differences between the two versions are too significant to compare them. The listening shows that we have 2 different recordings.
You can listen a part of Oxygene 2 for each edition too. Part 6 of the page is the conclusion. Basicly it's what we always knew: the early editions are best, mainly Japanese vinyl for the vinyl and 1983 CD for the digital media. But it's pretty close for most of these early editions. Interesting to see that the Live in your living room editions are pretty good too and that you have to avoid streaming like the plague.

A good read!

Very interesting even if I do not understand all the subtleties.
It lacks the rather faithful and respectful MSFL CD version => https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/4067 ... re-Oxygene.
Like the Vinyl MSFL version well mentioned with good results. I'm glad I got, not having the original.

EDIT :

So I'm confused about Ed 12 and Ed 13. I own the version that includes the movie in stereoscopic 3D. But in fact it does not include the new masters of Oxygene I to VI in PCM or Dolby referred to.
To finally realize that there were 2 Versions with DVD.
Is it correct?
So I would have liked to find these mixes.

For some reason, I've never been that interested in which version of Oxygene sounds the "best" - well, the last "good" one being the 2007 version, even though that had odd bits of white noise in certain tracks (most notably the "bubbling" sound effects in Oxygene 1). But it also has the most unique album version of Oxygene 4 since the bubbling transition to Oxygene 5 starts/becomes more audible a bit later on it than it does on any other version. That said, I've been "rocking" the MFSL versions of the album ever since I got those (though I sold the LP afterwards). But I guess overall any pre-2007 version will do for me. ;)

Different story with Equinoxe, for which the second French LP (FDM 83150) is my favorite edition because that just oozes the "warm analogue vinyl sound" for me through and through. The red-faced CD with the matrix nr. 01 (I think?) did get my vote in the "which edition is the best" contest years ago, but that was based only on the snippet of Equinoxe 5 so I can't say if the entire CD did count as the best version IMO as a whole). 8)

The 2D DVD has the 5.1 mix of Oxygene '07, the 3D DVD oddly hasn't.

So I have the bad but it's too late
I did not pay attention to the time too bad. And the 3D version I've never watched.
I don't find the ISO of the 2D version only.

Correct. It's got the 5.1/DTS version, which the 3D DVD lacks.

The 3D version does have the 3D gallery which has some unique music though.

So that's what I did. I found a copy at a decent price.
And I can discover this New Master in DTS, DD 5.1 and LPCM.
It is a bit shorter. The fading out at the end of Oxygene VI is faster and the sound alternations from right to left and vice versa are also different compared to the stereo master in Oxygene V (in the middle which corresponds to the intro of Cities in Concert).
The animation is also nice.

The 5.1 album is a simple 5.1 up-mix though. Nothing paricularily interesting.
