Me too for the blu-ray and double LP. A good surprise. The 2023 New Mix is interesting but not so different... the 1973 original but cleaner. The 1975 Quad Mix is this I prefer because of the separation of each channel which brings clarity...
And finally the demo of Tubular Bells 4 Intro sounds better than the Edit Version. For me it's like a legacy for closing with Tubular Bells.
The double LP have a very good quality. The music for London Olympics is great !

The new mix is great because it's very similar to the original, just so much cleaner. It's such a lovely mix, that doesn't do anything that wasn't needed like the '09 mix.
Which is still a great mix to be fair, but personally I was just never that big a fan of it. It's lovely that there's an option out there that's very similar to the original, but (dare I say it) better.
I'll give the other surround mixes a shot one day, but currently I only have a 2.1 sound bar which... Yeah, it does the job for stereo just fine, but it defeats the purpose of the surround sound mix :P

Man, you can sort of hear the music going all "this is the last part of the very last Mike Oldfield track ever" at 6:55 of the full TB4 Intro!

Admittedly I haven't listened too much of his music outside Tubular Bells, but I still prefer Tubular Bells II to the original (and I find myself listening to the 2003 and live versions more often w.r.t. the original anyway) - and not just because the cover art reminds me of WFC. ;)

Yeah, TB2 does resemble WfC a bit, I always thought that too! The CD itself is kinda an inverse WfC CD (the French CD is yellow with blue print, TB2 is blue, can't remember if it has yellow print)

And I prefer the 2003 over the original myself, it sounds cleaner.

I absolutely LOVE Tubular Bells II, and I prefer The Bell of that album over the original. But I entirely get why people prefer the original, it is an amazing album despite the many and obvious flaws.

Though preferring the 2003 re-recording over the original... Jones... You're a monster! :punch:
