Jean-Michel Jarre live in the Hall of Mirrors on Christmas Day

To celebrate its 400th anniversary, the Palace of Versailles thinks big: an immersive concert by the French electro giant Jean-Michel Jarre in the heart of its mythical Hall of Mirrors. It's happening on December 25th for Christmas!

For fans of the small screen, the concert will also be broadcast on the French television channels of the M6-W9 Group. But also on international TV channels such as Eurovision Services and UER, and on the RTL radio channel. Happy Christmas to all!

Jarre's official website is also updated with new info. Also a press release:

https://assets.website-files.com/647f43 ... R%20EN.pdf

Versailles 400 is a unique hybrid artistic creation created specifically by Jean-Michel Jarre to celebrate the 400th
anniversary of the Château de Versailles.
On December 25, 2023, this concert-event will be an opportunity for the musician who is widely hailed as the Godfather
of Electronic Music and for his innovative approach to his spectacular live events, to celebrate contemporary French
innovation as well as linking the past to the future. The event takes place in a location that was at the origin of an
incredible artistic revolution, and to pay tribute to the great royal festivities that have marked the history and made the
world-famous Château de Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Central to the work will be the excellence of French know-how in the digital arts and industries of the 21st century, in
the very heart of an emblematic place symbolising artistic and technological excellence in the 17th century: the Hall of
Mirrors at the Château de Versailles.

The French musician, wearing the LYNX mixed reality headset, will perform this concert-show simultaneously in front
of a real audience in the Hall of Mirrors, and in the metaverse, thanks to his avatar, in the centre of a futuristic Hall of
Mirrors with a virtual audience connected in VR or on tablets and smartphones.

The show will be filmed at the Château de Versailles, and broadcast on French (Groupe M6-W9) and international TV
channels via Eurovision Services / UER, on radio (RTL), online via digital platforms (Jarre’s YouTube channel), and in
virtual reality on the French VRROOM platform on December 25, Christmas Day.

Speaking about the event, Jarre said: "Versailles 400 is a hybrid concert and visual creation broadcast live from one
of the world's most beautiful locations, as well as in virtual reality in the metaverse. I hope the event will help promote
our creative savoir faire and bring the world of French immersive creation to the forefront of collective culture."

The Palace of Versailles, whose origins date back to the seventeenth century, was successively a hunting lodge, a
seat of power and, from the nineteenth century, a museum. With the gardens and the Palaces of Trianon, the park of
the Château de Versailles spreads over 800 hectares.

This is an interesting initiative and is one of the partners in the concert:

This sort of thing is very French - it appears 'dirigisme' is still in phase even after the Glorious 30 - and something the UK desperately needs but we never seem to do in this country :-(

Will you be able to record it? I hope I'll be able to, although I'll also be away from my usual desktop setup...

I bet his team are absolutely thrilled to be working on Christmas Day! Probably not very easy for audience to travel either. Great idea - very odd day to do it.

"A real technological challenge": Jean-Michel Jarre will play at Christmas in the Hall of Mirrors of Versailles

Jean-Michel Jarre, Monday in the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles two weeks before the concert. "The castle closing to the public on Sunday evening, we will only have 24 hours to set up and prepare everything," he says.

On December 25, Jean-Michel Jarre will celebrate Christmas and the 400th anniversary of the Palace of Versailles with a concert in front of 800 spectators, broadcast live on W9 and in virtual reality. This will be the first electro show in the Hall of Mirrors.

Industrial Revolutions 2, sounds like a proper concert with a new setlist.

Unless that track was just played over the top of the VT by the news network from a library file? I hope not, a fresh set list that includes some 'classics' especially some more delicate, 70s electro - the originals not remixes - would be fitting for the venue. I'd love to hear Equinoxe 3 in its original form, matched with some bespoke graphics designed for the Hall of Mirrors.
