Playback, miming or live.... does it really matter?

After over FORTY YEARS the laser harp is still a thrilling sight, and remains the ultimate expression of the futuristic and retro, that blend of eras that JMJ has so often talked about. Not by accident is The Time Machine performed on this instrument.

Here is a 77 year old man, in a silver jacket and dark glasses, looking as cool as anybody has ever looked in popular culture.

Also: do you consider this concert part of the 2025 tour?
No, I don't consider it part of the Special Summer Tour. First off, we are now in November and arguably in the winter, so it doesn't fit the tour title description.

I think of this as a one off. Too many differences in staging, visuals and the laser harp. Broadly the same tracklist and visuals but enough differences to set it apart, in my opinion.

And the UNESCO link, that was not present this summer.

From what I've been told, the editing on the Sevilla concert is over by now. Now the're working on the Samarcande one.

Jean-Michel Jarre’s Tribute to UNESCO Lights Up Samarkand
French electronic music legend, Jean-Michel Jarre, delivered a breathtaking tribute concert for UNESCO at Registan Square in Samarkand, Uzbekistan as part of the organizations 43rd General Conference.
Jarre has been a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for over thirty years. His concert transformed the historic square into a glowing fusion of sound, light and architecture, celebrating humanity’s shared cultural legacy.
“I adore this organization; I adore the teams of UNESCO are working hard to shape our future. I would like to dedicate this concert to Audrey Azoulay the Director General for the past 8 years who opened doors of UNESCO to the 21st Century, and promoting in a modern way peace, culture and equal rights and science and education all over the planet.” - Jean-Michel Jarre
The concert blended Jarre’s signature electronic compositions with laser displays, 3D projections, and lighting that lit up the spectacular arches and patterns in the architecture. Thousands of spectators gathered in the square, and thousands more watched the livestream worldwide.
Jarre has used his music to promote culture, peace, and environmental awareness. His performances often highlight UNESCO’s missions of intercultural dialogue and sharing humanity.

Great to see Mark Gidley's name here again. He founded the brilliant Conductor Of The Masses fanzine in the early 1990s and all these years later, he now appears to be an official concert photographer for JMJ. He took some fantastic shots in Bratislava and here again in Uzbekistan.

If you're reading this, Mark... hello! 👋 Amazing work, well done!

Oh btw, since I haven't watched all the videos from the Summer Tour (mainly Arpegiator, MF1 + snippets from there and there), was Herbalizer played during the tour as well and did it also kinda sloppily restart in the middle (or the 2/3rd part) of the track as well?
