I bought this album on vinyl (I do have the original pressing as well) but I'm extremely disappointed.
Mainly because 2 tracks just skip, sounds like the digital files weren't put to the master correctly or something like that.
I have never heard this on an album before and I have read more complaints about this on Discogs.

The skips you hear aren't physical skips of the needle, the needle is still in the grooves. This skipping audio is pressed into the grooves!

Yeah, just what I thought... Sure, most of these Dadwater releases are merely badly remastered and bland (making even getting the 1997 remasters used more useful), but issues like this and the very first pressing of the 2014/5 re-release of Rendez-Vous just shows the lack of quality control with these re-releases : \

I have sent my local Sony Music an e-mail and they at least responded. They were willing to further investigate in Germany (I am in The Netherlands and Germany is the European distributor of this album), so I'm curious if something comes out.
This had to be known if they would have made a test pressing + the time to listen it through.

This is the Rendez-vous 2015 remaster CD all over again. They did sent reissues to people back then. Let's hope they'll do that too now. The LP set is not cheap.

even if the cd does not skip like on the LP, it is not better and it would also be normal to make a complaint but I think the machine is launched. Nothing stops it unfortunately.
It's the disappointment of the year.

It's a shame that this remaster seems to be so bad... Oh well, at least the quality is consistent with the other remasters since 2014...

While adding a poster is nice, since it's folded it's not very good for displaying. I would have preferred that they add A4-ish reproductions on nice paper of all the promotional posters (there were 5 or 6 if I am not mistaken - like the reproductions that were for sale during the <2010> tour, only smaller). It would have been more complete and no folded documents!

On the subject of remasters of this record... What do you think of the Scott Hull remaster of 1997?

I have the original CD of Les Concerts en Chine, well, a reissue from the mid-80s, but you get the idea, French pressing, the one with the cover mirrored (i.e., the little spiral in the middle of the mask points to the right, as opposed to the left on the original vinyl). 2 CDs in a big double jewel case.

I also have the 1997 remaster (French pressing too). No mirrored cover this time!, and it's red, not blue or yellow like in the early 90s and there is the convenience of 1 CD (at the expense of shortened applause between tracks, but that's OK, nothing lost here).

Compared to the original CD I find the remaster more punchy and a little more detailed. And the booklet is in color like the sleeves of the original vinyl (the original CD is in black and white - cheapskates!) And yes, everything on 1 CD is the best!

it's me or the streaming version of 2022 edition has been updated.

My first reflex when listening to the CD (and especially Souvenir of China), is to compare it with Tidal streaming... and it was identical.
Now I listen and I don't feel the same crushing of the lead by the rhythm especially at the start.

In my quest to try and isolate the iconic Souvenir of China percussions, I bought this CD edition of the album .

Well, I didn't specifically want to get this exact edition, but the one I got just happened to be one of those.

Or so I thought, because even though the labels, covers and booklets on mine are identical, the texts on the inner rings/runways are slightly different (mainly the lack of the IFPI markings, the texts being in slightly different positions and disc 2 - as pictured below - reading YK instead of YQ).

Anyone else have this particular CD as well? Or perhaps I've stumbled upon a weird bootleg

(And yes, Disc 1 also is different to the one on Discogs but I didn't take photos of it since even the ones I got from disc 2 are pretty bad as you can see below )

Sadly, I got rid of most of my German pressings and I moved to the original French pressings back in the 90s.

After the disappointment of the 40th anniversary edition, reducing the object as a relic... I've got it into my head, these last few days, to "wake up the mix"!
From the double CD of 2022 therefore and I propose to make you listen to the result on a first title: Souvenir of China.

Personally, I find the result quite close to the version of the album "Planet Jarre", which is rather reassuring.
