I have always had a good spot on the Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer, and this videodemo certainly doesn't kill it
This shows that it can do other than just cheesy acoustic emulations. STill it's charm also lies in the synthetic and charectiristic metallic acoustic emulations.

Yes indeed and membrane buttons only, doesn't make it better like analogues from that generation.

Ahh never thought about this one. Yes I remember something about the FM7 being DX7 patch compatible, so you can load DX-7 patches into the FM7. I guess it opens the possibility for a reversed process

Yup, you can program sounds in the FM7 and send the sysex to DX7. But that seems a bit pointless to me, unless you care about noisy old DA convertors...

The FM7 is really a nice synth, but indeed, using the FM7 to program and then the DX7 to play the sound is only useful if you want to have the exact same DX7 touch, and little noise in the outputs !
For my case, I'd have space and spare money for hooby-jooby, that's what I'd do, but for the moment, I stick to te FM7

True - that's why I would stick to using FM7 to program it and sending the sysex to my mighty TX616 rack... which in fact is 6 times a DX7 in a rack
