November 1st 2025 — A Night Where History Met the Future

On 1 November 2025, the legendary electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre created a spectacle unlike anything seen before in the heart of Samarkand, one of the world’s most storied cities. Performing live at Registan Square, he transformed the ancient UNESCO World Heritage site into a breathtaking fusion of sound, light, and architecture.

Presented in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Culture Development Foundation, the one-night-only concert marked Jarre’s first-ever performance in Uzbekistan — a moment that resonated far beyond the city’s historic walls.

A Concert at the Crossroads of Civilizations
For centuries, Samarkand has been a symbol of connection — a meeting point on the ancient Silk Road where ideas, art, and culture converged. Surrounded by the majestic madrassas of Registan Square, Jarre’s music took on a new meaning: a dialogue between past and future, heritage and innovation.

“Samarkand has long been a crossroads of cultures. Performing at Registan Square is a unique honour, and I hope this concert reflects the spirit of exchange and creativity the city represents.”

— Jean-Michel Jarre

The concert coincided with the 43rd UNESCO General Conference, hosted in Samarkand — the first time in four decades that the conference took place outside Paris. The alignment of these two events underscored the city’s growing role as a global centre of dialogue and creativity.

Jean-Michel Jarre Live in Samarkand

Stunning UNESCO World Heritage site Registan Square

A rare chance to see Jean-Michel Jarre Live in a 2 hour show - set at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Registan Square in Samarkand, Uzbekistan - one of the oldest inhabited towns in Central Asia. Expect to hear some familiar favourites remade and re-produced for the show, from the man known for some of the world's most visionary concerts -including the Great Pyramids of Giza, Beijing's Forbidden City, the Eiffel Tower and Moscow's Vorobyovy Gory. Another gorgeous backdrop and a spectacular sonic & visual experience for the audience!

2025 has already been a landmark year for Jarre. His European summer tour included acclaimed performances at major heritage sites from ancient amphitheatres such as the Arena Pula in Croatia and Anfiteatro Degli Scavi in Pompeii to the iconic Piazza San Marco in Venice, Plaza d'Espagna in Séville. The tour reaffirmed his ability to unite history and technology in live performance. September also saw the release of 'Live in Bratislava': an album and film capturing his spectacular concert at the STARMUS Festival with Brian May, staged in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2024.

Experience Jean-Michel Jarre's first-ever concert in Uzbekistan, performed live from the heart of Samarkand's UNESCO World Heritage-listed Registan Square. Staged in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and UNESCO, this exceptional open-air performance merges music, light, and architecture to celebrate culture as a bridge between peoples and generations.

As a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Jean-Michel Jarre brings his artistic vision to Samarkand on the occasion of the 43rd UNESCO General Conference. The concert embodies the Conference's spirit of creativity, dialogue, and global cultural exchange. "Samarkand has long been a crossroads of cultures. Performing at Registan Square is a unique honour, and I hope this concert reflects the spirit of exchange and creativity the city represents." - Jean-Michel Jarre

Renowned for transforming heritage sites into monumental art spaces, Jarre has staged some of the world's most visionary concerts - from the Great Pyramids of Giza and Beijing's Forbidden City to the Eiffel Tower and Moscow's Vorobyovy Gory - gathering millions around shared values of innovation and unity. This landmark concert in Samarkand highlights UNESCO's commitment to safeguarding heritage while promoting creativity as a driver for peace and sustainable development, marking a new milestone in Uzbekistan's cultural diplomacy and engagement with the world.
