According to the sales blurb at EIL the 3D version has been deleted-

After comparing the 1976 version with the 2007 version I have come to a startling conclusion.
The 30th anniversary re-recording is not a re-recording, rather a hybrid of the original master with different mixing and perhaps some sections replayed. I discovered this listening to Oxygene 5 from 1976. Just as the lead plays its last section before the waves come in, there is a definite pop/click, presumably caused by dirt on the original tape. Fast forward to 2007 and it's there in all it's glory with the click/pop in the same place. Does this spoil it for me? Well a bit I suppose. I'd have rather had an audio CD of "Live in your living room" than be duped into thinking there was a completely brand new recording.
I really thought that he might do a Mike Oldfield and re-record it note for note as that's what the box says. Maybe it just wasn't possible to replicate in that way. Having said that, the differences in the mixing are better and more subtle and it truly does sound more polished. I just rankles with me that it's not a truthful re-recording.

Everybody says that this is not a re-recording! But why they mentioned the played instruments under Jean Michel Jarre and Francis Rimbert in the booklet for these re-recording? I'm for 100% sure that Francis Rimbert nothing has with Jean Michel Jarre in 1976... :? :wink:

It is definitely not replayed or re-recorded. It is only remasterd and they (Jarre and Rimbert) added some little effects, strings, etc... above on the original. That is the reason why Rimbert is mentioned now.

It is just that Francis is quoted for playing Eminent 310, ARP 2600, Minimoog, Jupiter 8 and the minipops for the re-recording. I doubt he used all those synths only to add a few effects. JMJ's list is identical to the original though. I don't really want to comment on whether it is a re-recording or remaster, I just wanted to point this out.

I think so too. Some of the EKS or VSC-3 modular sounds are identical with the -76 master tape. Those sounds has to be 99,9% impossible to recreate so accurately just by playing with the knobs of the old instruments. :roll:

On the live recorded DVD though I think the only thing they've re-used again are the instruments themselfs.
That's one important part in this that I admire them to achieve with these box sets. 8)

Why is the 3D effect working better after the track Oxygene part 4 ? :roll:
I think something is happening during the recording of Variation 1 -3D.
You can see two camera men behind Jarre, infront of Dominique and the next cut is a
camera view from above where there are no camera men visible and Dominique has also disapeared. :shock: :lol:
