Excellent : Ambient dub "New Age" Jazz.

A somewhat different direction for JMJ, once again experimenting with sounds
& musical styles in his own way.

He Can do "traditional" Jazz.

BRILLIANT bass solo on track 1.

Many more highlights all over the album.

"Sessions 2000"...I must have "mood" for it, but I like it.

And "March 23" is a great track, I love it...especially after Shipyard concert

The thing which I wonder about...I met with opinions (by fans who don't like "Sessions" much) that Jarre released "Sessions" just to cut cooperation with Dreyfus (he had to make one more album for them)...other say they (Dreyfus) released the material without his permission...does someone know more about it? :roll"

I heard Dreyfus really liked the jazz mood and had it released without JM's permission, which was in fact the reason why they split up after all.

And the other thing I heard was like you mention, JMJ put something together to end his contract, which wouldn't make sense to me, because they had a great great collaboration. And besides, Francis Rimbert recalls they had great fun recording the album...

So if it was me, I would stick to the first story. But then again, nothing is ever officially confirmed, and both parties will say they other is guilty, as usual in a conflict, so it might be very hard to figure out what exactly made the two of them split up.

It was probably mentioned on Jarre.net or JarreUK roughly 20 years ago (geez), but I think the March 23 trumpet was a sample from somewhere and was also used at the time in a ... commercial that had a yellow background.

Reminds me of how the base of Aero Introduction was apparently a Korg Triton sample rhythm - though I'm not sure if the melodical progression was the same or if the sample on that site has the person changing the key of the bassline to match the Aero one. Regardless, it got spun into "omg jmj sux teh aero intro was a korg sample" at the time even though only the percussions and bassline match.

You'd be surprised how many of such "one-finger presets" JMJ used on Radiophonie vol. 12. Some tracks or just two such presets mashed together. So the entire track is literally (and I'm using the word "literally" correctly) done by pressing two keys.

One of the VPS Avenger presets (the entire rhythm and chord progression, except it was replayed on other synths in the album version) also served as a basis for Movement 6 on Equinoxe Infinity.

Someone when Aero was released asked me if they should purchase Aero as an introduction to JMJ's music. I said here have my Concerts in China double cd.

Téo & Téa (yes, I know, I know, sorry for bringing this one up) also extensively used presents. One of the sounds in Oxygene 17 made its way into Doctor Who (I believe it was) Series 3 years before that. And let's not forget his biggest one, Revolutions, which was a Roland D-50 showcase

The trumpet part was also there as a official ringtone or commercial of a Nokia phone (don't remember wich one) in 1999 or 2000.

Which Oxygene 17 sound?

Also, there's nothing wrong with using presets. I don't think D-50 belongs to this discussion. However, using entire melodic phrases or making a track entirely out of two one-key-presets (which means, as I mentioned, that the entire "track" is just TWO key presses) is questionable.
