To me, Jarre missed somthing at the end of the 90's. First, doing "Oxygene 7-13" was a mistake. It's not a very good album, at the level of Oxygene. The audience dont't know it and expect during the Oxygene Tour, Jarre never plays it during the shows. As a big fan of Jarre music, I never listen to it as an example. Maybe the part 8 is interesting.

Do I have to talk about Metamorphoses, Odissey, GOL? I don't think so. To me his last very important album was Chronologie...20 years ago.

I will not talk about the Jarre team again.

I think that people was fed up with playback concerts and artificial shows, during only a few parts were played live. With his mimics, while he was not playing at all, Jarre bored the audience, to be quite ridiculous.

Today he plays live, OK. I'm a musician, and instrumentalist. Jarre is not instrumentalist. He doesn't play well, not in time, has always big delay or really ahead of others. He's a very good composer, a very good studio musician, a big genius in creativity, and a above all an awesome businessman as well, but not instrumentalist at all. I don't understand in fact why during 30 years he never made strides. I understand why he used playback during 30 years.
But Ok, that particular point is not a big deal.

To me, his current shows are not creative any more. Musical arrangements are too noisy, disordered. Why no musical director or artistic director any more, as Delacroix or Durand were? I feel bad when I watch the Monaco concert as an example. And those cymbals, my god... No special guest any more: Marvin, Khaled, Cross. No percussionist, no soprano any more. It's too bad.

Though, I swear I love this guy and his music.

But...
Part 8 and part 10 are interesting but thats it. I can say if we gonna be little hard, he was over after An attendant Cousteau album in 1990. Geometry of love is not that bad and maybe even sessions 2000 but Metamorphosis, Teo and Tea.... However after 1990 he is not the same. He dont have this spiritual touch, when you listening, spiritual connection to nature, space etc... like on Oxygene, Equinoxe etc...He is simpler now, loud even on chronology, no deep anymore. Boring. Maybe he should retire.

Don't you think this is a very arrogant and very small-minded opinion?

If you don't like the music Jarre has done the last 20 years it is absolutely ok.
But you have to respect that there are a lot of people who have a different opinion and still enjoy and discuss passionately all his projects, as you can see in this lively forum.

Sorry, but writing he should retire because YOU don't like his music anymore is stupid.

That is also a subjective opinion/point of view and only applies to you.

"analog-umph" member told you right. And another thing, why is arrogant and stupid to tell what I think after 25 years in JMJ music? Because you disagree? An I didnt say I dont like his music, I said he is after 1990 over. He is not such good anymore like he was. You remind me on some political fanatics, everything what is different from them (or against their picture inside their heads what they have) they see that like attack. And ofcourse they define others people words in some weird way.... so who is arrogant here?
