Masterclass & Workshops
20 April 2019 @ 18:00
Grand auditorium
Professionals and artists were summoned in force for this first festival INASOUND and their expertise will be highlighted in the large auditorium of 600 seats and its big screen. From current artistic trends to the economic stakes of music production, these masterclasses will be animated by key players in the electronic world.
Among them, Jean-Michel Jarre, sponsor of the INASOUND Festival and honorary president of d’INAGRM, will look back on his 50 years of career and his vision of the music of today and tomorrow.
It was in 1976 that French composer, author and producer Jean-Michel Jarre released his iconic progressive album "Oxygene" and opened a new chapter in the history of music. The record, sold to millions of copies to date, laid the foundation for the exceptional career of this artist. His avant-garde work has generated a cult and the rapid and historic rise of electronic music.
Jean-Michel Jarre revolutionizes the art of the concert show by imagining a new format of gigantic concerts, with the key audience records. His music has always followed the dogma that it is only by deviating from the norm that progress can be made.
Son of Maurice Jarre, composer and director of renowned film music, he became Pierre Schaeffer's student at the Musical Research Group (GRM) in 1968 and began to quickly draw his own creative conclusions from the "musique concrète" of his mentor. Oscillating boldly between spherical abstraction and the particularly direct melodic foundations of his music, Jean-Michel Jarre has always evoked the poetry of the encounter between analogue and digital, ecology and technology, classicism and futurism.
Today, fifty years after changing our perception of electronic music with his emblematic album "Oxygene", Jean-Michel Jarre is more current than ever. Last year, the "Godfather of Electronic Music", which sold more than 80 million records over the course of his career, received a Grammy nomination for his album "Electronica 1: The Time Machine".
In April 2018, he participated in the Coachella Festival in California as headliner, which prompted Entertainment Today to write: "Jarre, familiar with extravagant live productions, felt at home in Coachella. This French already produced EDM even before it was categorized under this kind of music. These rave reviews and the tenacious loyalty of his fans, highlight the greatness of Jean-Michel Jarre. This man is a living legend.
