I think he is right if he means that the music is kind of compressed on a CD and can hardly even be compared with a vinyl disc. However I have got CD's older then 25 years that still plays just fine or even better then brand new CD's (mostly because of todays loudness production). Nice interview indeed. He put some light on what Pete T. is doing in his Electronica project. Audio 3D, sounds exciting. One problem with 5.1 surround sound is that it's hard to walk around with a home cinema system around your head.

And ‘Baba O’Riley’ is a tribute to Terry Riley, and actually at the same time he did this – he’s a bit older than me – I was at the Château d’Hérouville, an old studio on the outskirts of Paris where I was an assistant, and I was preparing some sequences for an album for Terry Riley.
Interesting. The only Terry Riley album recorded at that studio (later renamed to Strawberry Studio) is Happy Ending from 1972:

The producer of that album is.... Igor Wakhévitch. And JMJ worked with Igor on the AOR ballet. Looks like JMJ is uncredited on this album.

we did a listening test on this forum earlier this year, conducted by user 1906. The first edition CD of Equinoxe turned out to be the best. But the difference between the lp and the cd was minimal. In fact, the 2011 LP was abysmal.

That's on the person who masters the album, not the medium. Sure CD's don't have as high a quality as a properly mastered and pressed vinyl, but it can sound absolutely amazing if one tries to make a good sounding album. It has to speak volumes about the people who produce these masters if CD's from thirty years ago overal sound much, MUCH, better even if those were pretty much always vinyl masters reused for this format. And let's not forget that absolute hilarious video of Jarre and the other guy talking about the amazing remastering he does and than the CD and vinyl sounded like absolute garbage. Why? Because the mastering was terrible, not the CD that was used.

Ooooh, I will be on volume 2. Never know that that I will do a collaboration with Jean-Michel! :o

Oooh, it's not me, but the famous French singer! :)

Greetings,

Christophe (not the French singer)

Couldn't bother taking the picture at a 90° angle? :P

But the test pressing is made just now? Seems rather late when the album has to be at the houses of the people in just over three weeks...

Promos are usually digital-only nowadays.
