That's a fair point. That video referred specifically to Essentials & Rarities, which was the first in the line of disastrous David Perreau / Dadwater remasters. Perhaps Sony "loudened" them even more as JMJ has intimated - if that's even possible ?

Judging by Elf's post, it hasn't been planned for more than 3-4 months or so anyway. And reports say that during his gig in Finland two days ago, JMJ might have said that the new album was gonna be released next year.

Alas, here's hoping for a timely 40th anniversary release on Dec 2nd. :]
Sony being who they are can move as quickly as they want - and bring pressure to bear on their artists to boot. That's why JMJ was so worn out and disillusioned in August. The EMI 30th Anniversary release was a rush job as well ...

Yeah he was, it was for the Essentials & Rarities release back in 2011. And even during that video you could see that the remasters were really loud, it was directly on screen and no attempt was made to hide that fact. The video has been made private early last year when I wanted to see it again after the disastrous re-releases from early last year. I also remember the comments being full of people who were rather angry at all the talk of how amazing the remastering job was going to be and how terrible they ended up becoming. The EP for the release is still up however, so if anyone happens to have downloaded the video, I'd love to see it again.

EDITED

Apparently the single premiered today (4.11) at midnight, so it's available in the CET timezone (amazon.de, amazon.fr) already and should be available shortly in the UK. Just got my copy.

More like Oxygene 8 TBH.

I'm now 99% sure that the album is continuous - Oxygene 14/15/16 are in the same key, and the single release of Oxygene 17 does not have proper fade-ins/fade-outs (the "whoosh" white noise sound comes pretty much out of nowhere).

As for the "loudness war" issue discussed above, here's how it looks

Fully agree on part 4 and 8 parallel. He should've hired Boris Blank, Mike Oldfield or Vangelis for the remaster and remixing job because he and/or Sony has screwed it up so many times now.
