Wow. Let me get this straight. JMJ should retire because he releases an an album YOU don't like? That is spectacularly arrogant. JMJ announces an album based on sounds bequeathed to him by a renowned avant garde musician and you criticise it on the basis that it's sounds like it does. What did you expect ? You're entitled not to like it, but even suggesting he should retire because you're annoyed ? Like I said WOW ...

I see that the people at SuperDeluxeEdition do their own line of Dolby Atmos/5.1 blu-ray releases (like Orbital's Optical Delusion https://superdeluxeedition.com/news/orb ... nd-series/ and xPropaganda's latest album) . So I've emailed one of the people of SDE if they might be planning on or taking the suggestion of releasing Oxymore in Atmos/5.1 on blu-ray. If one album needs to be released in such a format, it's this one, isn't it? I hope he'll reply soon.

Like you I hope but unfortunately we know that it's a waste of time.
For an immersive project by default, the blu-ray would have been logical but I think it's less seller and universal for an international sale.
It's disappointing in a way because once again there is only binaural available for download.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for my vinyl... and the stereo sounds good despite everything, well mixed even if I don't really like this too "techno" orientation.
Jarre never looks back.

Yeah, that's why I think SDE is a perfect company for this, because they do limited releases only for the people who are interested. They have no commercial drive that they have to sell in the millions or so, they do it to preserve the music in certain formats.

I understand and share this point of view in one way.
But I think you have to consider I think you have to approach the problem in reverse.
If the original work is composed in 24/48 but made available in flac or even mp3 format, we will see an identical spectrum. As a original 1400x1400 pixel image reduced to 1000x1000, we will visually have an impression of the same image, colors details.
But we lose detail, etc...
But upscale 1000x1000 to 1400x1400... détails are lost.

In complex works no compromise to have. The original will be more detailed.
Except if we then consider that the approach is that we have, artificially, from 16/44.1 made 24/48.

The CD remains a reference, corresponding to the human ear in spectrum. Does the MP3 320 make an audible difference?
Can we make Flac from 128 kbits? yes and when you hear the work mastered without loss then discovers details, less messy.
This remains a contradictory opinion. I am not an expert.
I compose in 24/48 and I go out of 24/48 because that's the level of detail I want.

Oxymore really is very different from anything else in his line of work, so can't say I'm too surprised. Do we know his opinion on Oxygene 3? Curious if he's positive about that one.
