According to the main BBC news, we are expected to receive 20cm of snow coming in from Russia. . . . . . . . . So that's why it's late coming. It's stuck in UK customs

Them clouds have dropped some of it here now, guess they had to stop by and wait for it to unload or sth

That was short lived. Snowed for 2 minutes. Lets see what tonight brings as the sky has gone very over-cast grey with clouds.

That's not the same... I have tried several times to understand the difference between Holland and The Netherlands. I simply don't get that region system. As far as I know The Netherlands is a bigger area that Holland, also the reasons why it's netherland

Aargh. The story is that you all are about 300 years behind.
In the 1700's, the Dutch Golden Age, the most important (both politically and economically) part of the country was the western part. The two most important provinces were Zuid- (south) and Noord- (north) HOLLAND. So people started calling our country Holland because of that and it never changed. Well, calling it Holland is not a really big deal, we're used to that. But stop mixing our language up with German because YOU call it Dutch...
It would be the same as calling your country Jutland and your language Jiddish or something
On paper Dutch looks more Scandinavian than german, however I guess we just have to realize that German has a foot inside most laguages on these edges. In Danish it's normally called Holland, but there is an alternate name, which is Nederlandene. Would that make you folks of Dutchland more happy?

Abi, it grinds my teeth when people say "it's cold isn't it" slap bang in the middle of winter. What were they expecting in the middle of winter, a bleeding heat wave

Doesn't look like we will see any snow. . . . . The news on TV has been banging on all day that the gritting lorries of the local councils are going out tonight. Now, when that happens, we don't get snow. When we DO get snow, there is no road grit left to put on the roads because the councils have dumped it all when it got a bit "nippy".

It keeps snowing bits off and on... but.. I can't update if we see some snow in a bit cos we're going out... yes, it's -1C out there right now... there are brass monkeys looking for welders!!!
y'know, I'm thinking that it's actually boots-wearing weather... 0.5cm of snow too... hell yeah...

I see on the news you guys are really snowed in up there.
Here yesterday it was 69° Celsius, ok it was not, it was 45
. The hottest day so far.
And we're in for the hottest summer to date.
Just great ain't it. The electrical bills will be through the roof.

1° at the moment. Had some heavy frost during the night, no snow. It is said that tomorrow night, temps will drop to - 6° making it the coldest night this year, so far.
