I had two Canon PowerShot A60 and A85, they both had the same problem when they died, the CMOS just died !
They are just pure crap as the motor of the two lenses died aswell

I can't atm but by your suggestion it would have something to do with a Pentax camera. So they take very good photos of parts of the body.
