Here some Fairlight Samples with better quality :

Spring 1
Spring 2 (you need to make the loop yourself)
Sax from Magnetic Fields 1
Famous flute
Famous Ahh
Dog

Tedk, your samples comes from I think from the "Official" Fairlight CMI Samples. Problem is the recording is very bad, there are lots of noise and loops are horribles.
But it is good stuff however.

Isn't it just the 15625 Hz from the monitor you see/hear?
I have cutted mine from 15kHz and up, since there are nothing there anyway.

All the coveres of "Moon Machine" I've listened to here are very good :)

Just in case no one would have noticed :
D-50/550 usersn you can also use your good ol' D-50/550 for that "low C" sounding throughout the whole song : factory patch I-71 "Nightmare" sounds just like that digital sound (Fairlight ?) used by JMJ.
Just play the 1st C on the keyboard and you just can't get even better ;)

Ok, but the D50 was not made in 1986.
I could NOT find it in the Fairligt samples, what is that sound?

...could it be Jarre's own?
Naaaah!! :punch:

Fairlight includes a section with additive synthesis, maybe the key is here. Emulator II has some good low bass sound.

You're right, D-50 was not made in 1986, but just 1 year later.
Now, we're in 2011, so nothing prevents D-50 owners to use the aforementioned patch to perform a cover or remix of "Moon Machine" ;) Since it has this kind of sounds in it (samples are not always required).

About the sample… Could it be Jarre's own ? Probably, if he experimented to achieve this sound ;)
