Do we already actually know the difference between the boxset and the Deluxe edition? Seems weird that the Deluxe would have less discs, but apparently that's the case...

Deluxe seems to be just the regular version with different packaging. Regular = jewel case, Deluxe = Digipak

Boxset has 2 CDs and 2 cassettes, but they are probably all mistakenly listed together as 4 "discs"

Only Boxset and Vinyl editions feature the download card for 5.1 versions.

I hope we'll find out early if it's just gonna have the Dadwater versions of all the tracks (except for the new and more rare ones i.e. AOR Bleu) or if there's gonna be some revised versions (say, the current tour version of Zoolookologie etc.).

Probably gonna get the regular 2CD edition anyhow due to dadwatering. :P

The CD-only edition will not get you 5.1 downloads, unless you're not interested in them.

I'm getting the box-set with cassettes. Won't be playing them ever, I'll wait for a pirated taperip ;) (like I did with my Electronica and Oxygene vinyls)

Jean-Michel Jarre celebrates 50 years of music with ‘Planet Jarre’

Celebrating 50 years at the forefront of the genre, the Godfather of Electronic Music, Jean-Michel Jarre, will makes a welcome return this September with the extensive double album, Planet Jarre, out on 14 September 2018 via Sony Music.

The release will bring together 41 works from his extensive catalogue (divided into four different sections), hand-picked by Jarre himself, and completely re-mastered to add a new and sparkling freshness to the sound of the package.

Jarre explains:

“Going through the body of my existing work for this project, I realized that I have four quite different styles of composition”, Jarre explains. “There is this common idea that people are focusing on shorter and shorter moments of music by zapping constantly. This is not necessarily true. We are also spending more and more time in our day-to-day life listening to playlists. Wherever we are and whatever we do. This is the reason why I decided to divide this project into four different parts, four different worlds that make up my own world…my own planet. And I hope that you will enjoy the journey.”

Comprising of four parts: Soundscapes, Themes, Sequences, Explorations & Early Works, Planet Jarre is unmistakably and utterly typically Jarre, highlighting a different creative focus of his work and bringing together familiar ambient tracks like Oxygene 1, Equinoxe 2 and Chronology 1, alongside newer pieces like the original title track of Electronica – The Heart of Noise, Stardust (co-composed by Jarre and Armin van Buuren), and the brand new Coachella Opening.

Always fascinated by the best possible sound and technology available, Jarre has mastered some tracks in 5.1 for a unique listening experience.

Planet Jarre is available for pre-order from 22 June on CD, Vinyl and Digital platforms.

Pre-orders now live at amazon.de, prices seem to be 20% higher than at jpc. I suppose they are artificially inflated so that they can be lowered before September (pre-orders get a lower price guarantee anyway)

My guess: Equinoxe 7 may be the "Jarre a la Concorde" single version and Rendez-Vous the one from the Houston single. Oxygene 1 (live) may be from the "Live in Your Living Room" DVD or (who knows?) from Beijing'81 / Houston'86... if it's really live and not a mistake. Oxygene 8 is too long to be the album version... perhaps a remix or a live one.

Mere speculation, of course...

One more thing...

The tracks in 5.1 are not the same of the album tracklist. There will be availlable only as a digital download and the list is:

Circus
Equinoxe 2
Equinoxe 5
Exit
Oxygene 15
Oxygene 17
Oxygene 2
Stardust
Switched on Leon
Coachella Opening
Souvenir of China
Zoolookologie.

That list was in amazon.de description of the box set yesterday but now it's removed.

All the preorders of the will receive inmediately the track "Hypnose" as a digital download. In fact it's available right now in amazon.jp.

Best regards
