I do not understand an opinion at all. 99% of the religious people are harmless. So your point is hypocritical and prejudiced :(

I just see to much shit happening in this world because of religion. Bombings, killings, violence, destruction, war, death, death, death, death...

Even Catholic priests exploiting children sexually.

From all of this, I can only conclude... religion is evil.

It's a bit hard to determine my religion. I was raised as a catholic christian, but then I started to think about God. Why is he there? Who or what is He/It? What the hell? :P Christianity didn't give me all the answers or not the answers I wanted to get. I became an atheist for a while, because I felt I couldn't get convinced about anything. If there was a single proof of God's existence, everyone would have believed in God, no? But then, I was being exposed to many influences, especially (but of course not exclusively...), believe it or not, Jon Anderson. His lyrics, sleeve notes and writings touched me strongly and forced me to think again about the spirituality, the meaning od life, eventually to meditate and read some interesting literature. Since then I've become a very spiritually aware guy and very often, when I need it, I feel the presence of the Divine. I've never thought about an actual god/gods, casue God is us. Every living creature has a spirit and that's God. The physical and spiritual world coexist in a balance and there is none without the other, like Yin and Yang.
I'm not a member of any particular religion, I just take the most beautiful things from all. For there is no RIGHT or WRONG religion, all are beautiful, and it's up to everyone to find their spiritual path. Not the RIGHT path, but THEIR path - of all possible. All roads lead to Rome. Sometimes I pray, sometimes I meditate, lately I've become really interested for example in Buddhism, especially in Zen and I think this philosophy (it's not actually a real religion) is so beautiful. Just as much as the teachings of Jesus Christ and so many others.

I meant, make love, not war! :D

Oh well, I meant, I think I fall into the Other category. :P

GeeJee, I say this because I see all of these things that AnDroid points out, but I can't see any real good things that religion has done, at least not anything that can contradict all the suffering caused by it.

I think we as a human race are now advanced enough to judge our own morality without having to rely on a book of which what is written inside we have little proof of... It seems to me that religious men and women seem to think that atheists have no morals...

I know, I recognise and respect the right of people to pray and worship, but it doesn't mean I have to like the whole idea of religion does it?

Also, I've noticed quite a lot that theists call atheists hypocritical and short-sighted quite a lot. I'm not exactly sure why though...

I think it's ridiculous to compare nature with people fully aware of their actions. People doing any kind of harm to other people, are in my book evil people, and people who claim to be religious and doing harm in Gods name, are even more so. What kinda God justifies the killing of a fellow human being? What good is religion, if it doesn't make you a better person?

Compared to many religious people, I'm a god damn saint!

Religion doesn't kill people, its lack of respect and understanding of fellow man that Kills,if Muslims(exremeists, not your average law abiding ones) are considered to be killing in the name of God,why do they exploit there bombing in places where they can harm there fellow Muslim beleivers....if all other religions are considered Infadels, then they wouldn't harm there own...

Catholic priests molest young children...Yes so do "non religious" Paedophiles, being in a position of high authority just makes it sound more disgusting,as religous people are carrying that "Holier than thou" tag so people spout religion as evil for it,but i would say theres far more paedophile tendecy motivated men that are not priests...
is someone who is a molester any less a peadophile because they are of religuos order! or for that matter any less guilty because they don't use the name of god as reasons for doing it??

Compared to many religious people, I'm a god damn saint
Not really, you condemn peoples action compared to your own approach, does that make you any more pure than them??probably not
You judge people by your own actions, well thats hypocritical,I'm better than you cos i dont do this or don't do that, thats lack of respect of understanding of peoples actions.
To murder someone is sinful,to hate anyone enough to want to Murder them is sinful,so if you have thoughts to kill someone but not actually go through with it ,doesthis makes you more pure than someone who does follow there actions???in the eyes of common law perhaps, but its still wrong

i don't condone violence or any form of harm to fellow man,but i can understand how religion would motivate them,in the same way that people would be angry and motivated to kill them for harming any of your own family...

you seem to hate religions with a passion......in just the same way religious pacts hate any non belivers of there religion.....so just who is More evil than the other?????
