You know what? After all these years...there is chance...
Seriously, I think Jarre is just desperate to release new album in the perfect way : "how many discs should I put on sale? Through which record label? At all : through any record label? How will I get well-paid? Etc...
So all this delay issue is, I think, up to how he'll be able to sell himself / new album.

What would have been real interesting in Dr. Jones' calendar would have been the Jarre Tech releases... That way the puzzle would be somehow more complete, and that could explain that he can't do both at that same time : composing and promoting his high-tech stuff, which is refreshing and exciting for someone loose in the studio 12 hours a day.
And I give credit to Robi on the release issue, he's right.
Maybe he's learning to play new instruments, never know.

True. I was summarizing this thread (by reading through it). It missed some things here and there (like the collaborations/personal remark made by JMJ himself). I might read through the JarreTech thread to make the timelime of that

Didn't Jarre provide you enough Oxygène along the way?

Classic Jarre pun.
Yes, but Ricardo posted it in a more visited place

"Jean-Michel Jarre promises a new album with collaborations this year"
With "Oxygene", Jean-Michel Jarre pulled himself over 35 years ago to the altars of the then nonexistent Olympus electronic music. And in late 2013, announced Efe, this pioneer and master will return with a new album, surrounded by some of the members of that pantheon that he helped build.
It will "probably in September or October" and will come with a new tour that could go to Spain, as revealed during an interview on its way through the latest edition of Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Music (MIDEM) in Cannes (France).
"There are many electronic artists who tell me I'm one of their influences, but I say that it works both ways," said French, citing references consolidated as The Chemical Brothers and Moby - "a great friend of mine" - in addition to the French Justice, Air and Sebastien Tellier.
"In Spain, also know young DJ very interesting, as John Tallabot" added the musician, who was appointed last November honorary member of the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).
At Midem 2013, closed on Tuesday, this visionary who recorded at home "Oxygene", the album that led to "the revolution of the 70s synthesizers", spoke about the bridges between French music and increasingly powerful music scene in Taiwan.

well, ok. an announcement again. But we have seen the list compiled in an earlier post of the history of album related announcements. Supposedly an album was already finished by Jarre last summer. Is it the collaboration album or another? Does this mean we'll get another truly Jarre studio album besides the collaboration one? And why does it have to coincide with a tour? If an album is ready on the shelves now, please put it on iTunes so we can buy it. If the music is good, I'll still go to a concert later.
I'm just hoping for an album along the lines of equinoxe, oxygene, chronologie, rendez-vous, Magnetic Fields, Revolutions or oxygene 7-13. A classic Jarre style album.
