As for myself, I don't want to take part in this discussion as religion is a very important part of my life. My religion does not harm anyone at all and I don't like to defend myself in this discussion.

I really liked what Nitrus wrote.

What I personally feel is that ESSENCE of every religion is very similar, if not the same...I'm trying to say that you can spiritually develop-as development is thing I find the most important in religion- being Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist...it's just not the point how you'll call it. So you can being irreligious.
I didn't find place for myself in Catholic Church but I have many friends who are really "deep" into it and I respect them so do I people with other beliefs. Religion should never divide people...
The person who in my opinion wrote really beautiful and interesting things about religion is Anthony De Mello.

GeeJee is Christian and he feels great with it, isn't it beautiful? We should all be happy about it. He doesn't try to convince us that his beliefs are better than other, he just says: "I am proud about it". That's great!!!

Oh, it doesn't really matter what religion we are...don't let it divide us, ya?

Oh I would want to, but I know it's rather upto what the other person in question wants. It costs a lot of effort and can cause a lot of trouble, and if somebody wants it him/herself it something totally different of course...

Conversion is pretty much propaganda though, really.

Although I do respect peoples right to worship, I like some religions more than others. Buddhism has to be my favourite, and the one I'd be if I was religious. However, the Roman Catholic church seems to be overly hypocritical to me... I raise the Concordat of 1930-something as an example.

well just take the fact that it took the catholic church about 400 years to forgive Galleleo Galilei (spelling?) for saying that the sun had spots. So I am not so very fond of the catholic church at all. And when they still insists that the condoms infects people with HIV/AIDS there is my line for what I can take for bullshit in one lifetime.

If the catholic church could stop playing the power-game and be a plain good church that do not judge people and who would spend their money more visely in Africa I would then love them and defend their works.

But if one person is a catholic I will not play the critical game. Just stay focused on one thing though. Religion is one thing, science is another and you can not mix those two together. Then I will be more then pleased with your choice of belief.

And being serious...what I believe is that none of us and no religion has monopoly for truth...it's possible to find "your way" in every religion. You found it in yours, another people found in other, some are still looking for it.
So I don't think that anything like "only right beliefs" exist

I think it's ridiculous to compare nature with people fully aware of their actions. Catholic priests molest young children...Yes so do "non religious" Paedophiles,being in a position of high authority just makes it sound more disgusting,as religous people are carrying that "Holier than thou" tag so people spout religion as evil for it,but i would say theres far more paedophile tendecy motivated men that are not priests...
is someone who is a molester any less a peadophile because they are of religuos order! or for that matter any less guilty because they don't use the name of god as reasons for doing it??

To murder someone is sinful,to hate anyone enough to want to Murder them is sinful,so if you have thoughts to kill someone but not actually go through with it ,doesthis makes you more pure than someone who does follow there actions???in the eyes of common law perhaps,but its still wrong

Yes, I do think it's even more bad when a child molester is a religious person, even a priest. You can't be sure of your children's well being in the church? WTF? Where else would you expect them to be more safe!?

I'm not saying religion per definition is bad, it's just that too many people are taking advantage of it, and doing evil things in the name of God, hiding behind their so-called religion. And this is a bigger problem than most people would dare to believe.

I only ever condemn people who deserve to be condemned, and I think people killing other people, molesting children and so on deserve to be. OMG I condemn people like that? I must be a really bad person.

I don't hate religions with a passion, in fact I don't hate many things, only thing I can think of right now is doing the dishes. I hate that! Oh, well... I do hate evil people, though, religious or non-religious, it doesn't matter.
