Metamorphoses sold 2,6 million copies according to Record Collector, so I wont say it's a flop. Just a little less than the average Jarre sales. And we dont know for sure if he got dumped by Sony - the thing I remember from those days is that Jarre dumped Sony because they didnt do enough promotion.
Antigoon wrote: So off to Warner and release a best of called Aero (name it what you want, but it's nothing more then a fancy best of release) Also aimed at commercial succes... After that we saw something new that didn't get promoted (TnT) and he got dumped by his label... again..
But again, we dont know if he dumped them or the other way around. I have not seen sales figures for T&T but we can assume they are low, but nevertheless, who dumped who is speculation. Just because a contract ends, it doesnt mean it was terminated before it's planned due date by the record company.

Warner released 3 albums (GoL, Aero, T&T) and two successfull DVDs by Jarre; maybe the contract was for 5 releases, then supposed to end. Many recording contracts are limited in scope like that.
Antigoon wrote: Now we see a new record company and guess what, they're milking the oxygene cow again with this...
Compilations and live albums usually sell much less than original albums, so wether Oxygene 3D will be a cashcow remains to be seen. Probably not - the costs are quite high on this one (shooting, editing, production, etc). My best bet is that O3D is a way of testing waters, just like Aero was for Warner.
Antigoon wrote: Maybe JMJ should consider going with a smaller independent label and just do whatever the hell he wants so we won't get another commercially aimed item again just to sell out.
He is on a small label already; Aero Prod. They licence stuff to EMI (or Warner in the past, and like Drefus did to Polydor and Sony). I think being on AP (which is not just a management firm) enables him to switch distributors. EMI, in this case, as he is not signed directly to them, acts as distributors and promotors.

I see there is a new official website...

http://www.oxygene3d.com/

The logo is pretty tantalising - looks like money has been thrown at it. Let's hope for a big release!

Yeah, that's actually a high school in which you only learn things about computers, in 2 years I'll be an analist-programmer, and in 5 years, engineer in networks :P

Glad I avoided that route Nico. If fact, thank the stars I didn't go into computers 7 years ago! :? :!:

Yeah, there's no future in computers. They're "in" right now, but that will pass soon enough! Image
