That's life for ya !
Playback is all around you! No other interest from you regarding JMJ and his activities...
We could be disappointed about every artist, since, for example, Mike Oldfield and Vangelis has played with the help of harddisc...

Who's that question for?.
If it's for me, I have heard recordings from those concerts and they don't sound like playback to me.

There was no real title for that. I have only seen it described as an intro for Oxygene 12.

That right, although some pople have called it 'Variation IV' which is unconfirmed as fact.
While we're on this subject does anyone know what title - if any - is given to the music played over the 3D Gallery images on the 3D DVD ?

The Music played on the 3D gallery is the Prelude

No, it's a totally different track of 1 and a half minute which loops for 4 minutes.

Temperature fluctuations, the Memory Moogs were terribly unreliable instruments anyway, they suffered problems with Heat dissapation, they have one of the largest Heatsinks on the Back panel ever fitted to a synthesizer,A heatsink this size is usually fitted to amplifiers...so it just shows you the issues they had with trying to keep the Circuits at a steady temperature by removing the excess heat generated, add to that the Fluctutations of temperature throughout the Performance in the Theatre, recipe for a very Unstable Memory Moog..Something Jarre can do nothing about..as we can see.He would have been better to stop playing it ,then retune it after it had cooled slightly, trying to tune it whilst still playing is adding Electricity resistance to the circuits which generate the heat.
That's right but... Memorymoog has autotune function aswell

btw JMJ should play constantly one note (G or D - depends on tonation] to get better tune

Anyway... It seemed a bit impossible because... VCO was controlled by LFO

So probably he should set lfo to 0 or sth
Look at his hands. JMJ plays same note and You can hear pitch down/up's so I'm quite sure it was VCO's LFO

I have the feeling that JMJ does not play the same way the Memorymoog when he plays the end of Oxy 2 and Oxy 4. When he plays Oxy 2 (or when he plays the EMS), he is concentrated, and when he plays Oxy 4, he "acts" a lot (big gestures, he seems self-confident, etc...). Should be interesting to compare all solos in Oxy 4. If they really look the same, and given the fact that it seems that JMJ played with the volume of the Memorymoog after Oxy 2, yes, the conclusion is obvious : Oxy 4 solo is NOT live.
Now.... The debate and the question : if Oxy 4 is not live, what can we say about that. Is it a rip-off, is it normal? The risk to badly play the end of Oxy 2 is lower than missing Oxy 4. I imagine that JMJ did not want to jeopardize the concert by missing the lead of Oxy 4, and knowing the fact that it may be harder to play than the female voice on the EMS, they decided to make it not live. That's a choice. Therefore Oxy live is a "mitigated" risk. That's not bad after all, that's art : a bit of mystification. Without a part of mystification it might be that Jarre would not be famous. And, even in the Oxygene LP, there is also some part of mystification. Mystification is the secret of the magic.
