Tour extending to 2017.....

Like a few others I'm pretty disappointed that so far "world tour" is Europe seeming. As a person in the USA I understand that it's not super practical for him to come here and do a string of dates. However, hitting a couple of big cities would be cool. I already know I'll have to travel somewhere to see him, but my hope would be that I don't have to leave the country. I cant spend that kind of money just to see JMJ as much as I want to. I don't expect I'll ever see him which is disappointing.

The tour going on in 2017 too! And He will go to America (USA and South America) and Asia.

What can we know from the interview made - with Joachim Garraud - by Vincent?

There will be older tracks, in the Electronica tour, with new arrangements in order to be "coherent" with the more recent stuff. They have not decided yet which instruments they would travel with.
There will be surprises in the tour, but only Jean-Michel can tell them.


The collaboration with Cindy Lauper started off difficultly, maybe because it was too "pop", not electronic enough, from what I understand.
Kraftwerk and Deadmau5 couldn't be featured in the album because of agenda problems, they were working on other personal stuff.
About Joachim, he sleeps about 5 hours a day, and sleeps in taxis, even 20 minutes is good enough for him. Oxygene is his favorite album from JM, he listens to it 4-5 times a year.
His favs from Electronica is Immortals (a perfect track, he says), zero gravity (for the poetry of it), walking the mile with Christophe which has very few layers and is magical.

Garraud says that Jarre is someone very precise, who knows exactly what he wants, and he enjoys working with him and being at his service. He recalls he had 0.8 seconds difference in the new eve concert in Egypt to make it for 2000.

Not working on an new album then. We're still waiting more than 10 years for new music of Kraftwerk. And if they ask about that to them they say all the time that the album will come soon. I don't know what is soon for Kraftwerk. And also every concert of them looks the same. Year after year! That's what I call the easy way to get much money.

Still like the music of Kraftwerk. But it's a sad story. Now I understood why Florian Schneider leaves the band.

Original four Kaftwerk members broke up years ago : they avoid each other.

I had the chance to meet Jean Michel on Thursday in Berlin. He told me a few things about the forthcoming tour: The stage design will be completely new and "modular" to adapt it to the various stage sizes in arenas and at festivals (indoors, outdoors), which was a real challenge. He said that he's aware of the expectations to a JMJ concert, so he will not only come with a guitar...
He is working with a completely new production team and there will also be new musicians on stage (with all respect to the people he worked with in the past). Because of the character of the "Electronica" project he wanted to set up something completely new. So musically and visually it will be different.
Besides music from "Electronica" he will also play some classics from "Oxygene", "Equinoxe" etc. He wants to create a link also to the younger generation, especially at the festivals.
The concept of the concerts will absolutely not being based on the presence of collaborators. It will definitely be Jean Michel Jarre concerts, although there will be some collaborators present from time to time.
The tour will also go to Asia and America and return to Europe in summer 2017.

Hello jeanbatman,

I was there together with another fan and we were really surprised that he gave us 20 minutes of his precious time. When the press promoter came in after 5 minutes, Jean Michel said: "I need 5 minutes more, I've talked too much!" And the promoter said: "I know, I know, as always..."
And we were the first to meet him. All the journalists came after us...

This was a really special day...
