Then that's the surprise. The surprise has to appear at some point anyway. the thing is that I just don't wanna go to the concert with prepared thoughts on the setlist.

Blimey, I wish I was that strong willed. I can't take any surprises with JMJ. I need preparation. The shock will be too much.

Actually, if Jarre introduces every track, that would be very nice. If he told the story of how each track came to be and a bit about his personal feelings about them. Would be a nice touch to a greatest hits concert.

Nooo, no long speech before the concert, nor talks in-between tracks!! Except for saying welcome, introducing musicians and maybe dedicate a song to his father, that probably will happen.
I pay ticket for getting music, not to hearing thier story...what could be still good to know, but not during a concert!

Well, different people prefer different things.

I was thinking along the lines of Loreena McKennitt's "Nights of Alhambra" concert DVD, where she explains things such as "it was in 1995 that I went on a train trip across Siberia", and what she experienced and how that led her to write the song Dante's Prayer. (BTW, I can really recommend that DVD - it's wonderful!).

Of course, McKennitt is a totally different kind of music to Jarre, and such talk in between the songs might not suit Jarre's style very well. Maybe it would just be awkward.

It would also be nice to hear an intro for a song, not knowing what song it is. And then, when the theme becomes recognizable, everyone cheers... I do see that side of it as well.

I'd love to hear JMJ's stories behind the song, when he was composing it

(for example where he got the idea for example magnetic fields 2)

Manchester, 1997, the MEN arena (under its then name of the Nynex arena) Jarre did talk inbetween tracks.. even told us the result of the England vs France game... if you'd gone to the concert expecting to not find out about the football... NOT A CHANCE!!!

As for JMJ talking, I don't mind.

I'm going daft here... I dont think i can last out without spoilers... I tried to fight it, but I know I have failed BIG time on that one!

I mean, you know you can't live without knowing because you wake up and you're checking the jarreblog, FrimBlog, here, jarreforum, the francis rimbert forum, google... ANYTHING... not just once daily, but almost every hour there is.. tomorrow, I'll be much worse than I am right now and over the next three weeks I'll be ensuring a regular daily fix until the MEN concert.. and THEN I'll calm down a bit (maybe )

Just to put the shoe on the other foot for a moment: I wonder how excited JMJ and his team are right now?

Imho, I think they are excited just like us. Getting this new project off the ground and hope things go to plan. But as they are professional concert makers ( ) they will face any problems along the way with true professionalism. I am no mind reader but maybe JMJ will be nervous, a little.

The setlist is based on one album?
