Great news! Music has to be shared, isn't it? Or you'll never discover new music! 8)

As I haven't seen any news about this, I don't think it has anything to do with all countries.

Nothing to do with Laws actauly, besides... did you know that according to the dutch law canabis is an illegal substance? That's how much you know about Dutch laws I guess;-)

EMI was the last to use protection on their CD's and they now abandoned it because it cost them too much to add it to CD's without result (ie, PPL still could get around easily because of the way CD's are formated etc)

They just gave up

Sony was the first to give up after their copy protection turned out to be a rootkit (as a result I won't ever buy anything from them again untill I forget...., wich is unlikely ;-), many others listened to their clients complaining about not being able to play their CD's so..

WE WON!

I even remember some story about Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 2003 album, which had copy protection. Some of the albums could not be played on regular CD players without weird noises and skips. They however worked just fine on computers, and ripping them was just no problem at all... :mryellow:

I have never had any problems ripping CD's marked with "Copy Protection", I have never had any problems playing it on my non HI-FI soundsystem, but my fathers old HI-FI system had some problems playing them, so does his new system.
I have only tried once with a Bomfunk MC's CD that was not supposed to run on a computer. The computer could simply not discover the cd to be in the drive. Later I got a DVD rom player for my computer, and I had no problems ripping that cd :D
