Jean Michel Jarre gave a concert for the original iMac launch in Europe (18 sept. 1999). He and Apple were looking for something original, so I suggested we could do a full-3D concert, with people wearing 3D glasses. I used the then top-of-the-scale 3dfx cards to write a simple 3D engine, and played it real time during the concert. Jean Michel played the 2D animation on an iMac. People could really see the spheres coming out up to 80 meters in front of the stage. Some fell on their back trying to avoid them. A lot of stress, as we were always on the edge, but one of my best memories.
The other songs from the concert were really rich in visuals, but somehow I prefer this song, which I totally improvised with only one image and four shapes, per Jean Michel's request. He was right, it worked!
The very nice and soft editing is done by Bruno Rimboux. He made a full documentary, but it was never released. If I manage to contact him I'll ask him permission to put everything on youtube.
