Metro Hungary arranged an interview with Jean Michel!
http://www.metro.hu/cikk/63760
The album is about a love story, between two soulmates.
They have similar names, they are similar to each other and go through similar things.
On occasion of new album release we spoke with the musicain by phone. at the beginning we were a bit worried about an unsuccesful/undone interview, as Mr. Jarre didn't "pick up the phoneline" , but we reached him within an hour.
-Why did you compose an album about human relationship?
JMJ: When i started to work on this album, i was going through very difficult period. As a musician, as a private man. The theme is from this. Nowadays we don't care of our relationship properly. but i think it is very important to find our soulmate in the life, even if something happening, we feel good with her/him. Important a person, for who we can tell our problems and he/she understand us. It is not concidence that several people look for partners via internet. Many of them wants not sexual, but soul partner.
-So, You intend to show the right way regarding relationships?
JMJ: Not entirely. I wouldn't like to say for anybody what to do. Only i would like to draw the attention to this important fact/theme. In these days more difficult to find the best relationship, but i think everybody desire a true/real relationship, either a 17 or 50 years old person.
-Why this album is about one theme?
JMJ: i have always liked to do album with one concret theme. I can express my thoughts easier. That's why i like instrumental music, because in this kind of music the lyrics don't "disturb" the main theme. The good thing in electronic music that, when you close your eyes, then due to the music, you can "play" your own film, with your imaginations.
-What do you think about lot of people consider you as "grandfather of electronic music"?
-JMJ: i'm the father of my children maximum. (

) With Teo & Tea, i feel myself as a starting musicain. (Starting=beginning of musical carrer-Robbie

). Also because T&T is different from my previous albums. I was always on my own way, i was always composed my own music, not sure they followed the actual trends.
-During your carrer lot of special events and records were done. You were the first artist who played electro-acustic music in Opera, and also the first who played in post-Mao China. Is it important for you that to be always the first?
JMJ: I never had plan that to be the first. These were simply done as the life brought. The people himself can't decide about these things. I didn't want to go to China (by myself), but i was invited. The Rolling Stones wanted to go there, but they were not allowed. When i got the opportunity, Mick Jagger asked me to try to collaborate. (

) But it didn't depend on me. China decided.
-But we can say that your are the man of special things (events) Last year, for example, a concert was organised by UNESCO, which concert was in Morocco.
JMJ: Yes, in fact, that was a very special concert. I hope that we could express our aims. We are planning a DVD about that concert for end of this year! (

)
-Will you tour the new album?
JMJ: I really would like to, and i hope an event for Hungary. i like Budapest so much!
-Why?
JMJ: Budapest has lot of cultural and historical memories, people can see certain buldings , buildings like visible at very few places on the world. Hungary suffered a lot during communist decades, and now hardly try to reach Europe, for which, i think, it is going on the right way. Often the problem with West-European countries is there are no motivations and think they have a stable position, don't take care of anything. A concert in Budapest would be great aswell because my new album is about two persons, and Budapest has also two main parts. (Merci JMJ, we are WAITING for you

)
-Why did you start to work with UNESCO?
JMJ: i am highly proud of peoples and organizations who try to do something for future of humankind. Politicians usually take care of themselves, most of firms are also interested in exchange rate/profit. But i do think they also should deal with long-term things. i stand beside the organization because if somebody have fame , then he/she must to say something for long-term important things/fact.
-Do you think the internet music is the future?
JMJ: If not entirely the future of music , but its sure that it will be important segment. Only we have to find the suitable way in order to be good for everybody. And we must educate the audience too : must to explain - to steal is not a nice behave, but to steal the person whom we like, that is worse thing. Nevertheless, if we download the new album of our favourite band, the we steal. The aim would be to find a manner in which the musicains, the record companies and audience will be satisfied.
My English in the best, apologies for errors...
