You know, time to time 1-track Aerology promos appear on eBay and such places, but in almost every case they are reported to have been released in 2003.

Like, is there a typo in the sleeve or something or is that just the oddest misunderstanding ever? I guess someone here has that and can confirm this... right?

It's either a typo or the copyright for it was indeed registered in 2003. If I'm not mistaken, it also reads.. "forthcomming"

If I remember correctly, work on Oxygene 7-13 had already begun in 1996...

I allready had my copy in 1996....

The point was that granger never specificly painted something for JMJ, JMJ just used existing paining for his coverart (and there's nothing wrong with it at all, don't misunderstand me please)

Ronja, you're right: Jarre wanted to have something very similar to the first "Oxygène" artwork, but Granger said that people would mistake the new album for a special edition of the first one or so, so there was discussions going on between Jarre and Dreyfus, as well as between Dreyfus and Granger. The outcome was the well known blue man we all know....

LOL, well... my info commes straight from the source also so not sure what we both can do about it, gues it will be a mistery (and again, you've probably also saw the back of the painting too....)

right... my source is Michel Granger himself.... He told me and my wife during a visit in his studios back in 2002. JM told Michel to create something very similar to the fiorst "Oxygène" cover. "Jean Michel, don't do that... people would not understand the artwork belonging to a new album and might mistake it for the old stuff" he said to him. After some discussions between all of them Michel decided to create the artwork which we all know and send it to FDM.

To be honest, I don't own an original Granger painting, but some draft versions of the "Chronologie" cover as well as a unnumbered lithography of the "Oxygène 7-13" cover artwork (also known as the numbered 300-pieces print). Plus there's a serigraphy of "Le Trac" hanging in our living room

Well, like I said, we both have the same source. Michel and Kika were so kind to allow me a visit yesterday so not sure what to say now.

Does it really matter though?

According to JMJ from the Oxygene 7-13 video presskit, the Oxygene 7-13 cover was made as a continuation for the original Oxygene cover. It sounds like JMJ requested a cover that was a continuation of the first one, so Michel Granger did that cover.
