Hello everyone

Just to let you know, it will be a week tomorrow (Thursday 23rd August 2007). A devastating fire happened in Skegness (East Coast) (United Kingdom).

This fire was devastating for skegness, my hometown and very upseting,
here is a news report and pictures.

A fire took hold at The Parade in Skegness at about 2330 BST at the back of a premises on the arcade and the area was quickly evacuated by the police.

Witnesses said the fire took hold quickly at the entertainment complex and within 20 minutes flames had begun to rise into the sky.

A large part of the seafront was closed off and the Skegness lifeboat reported it could see the smoke column on its radar screens.

Police backup was called in from Grantham and Lincoln to assist Skegness crews and 20 fire appliances were used to prevent the fire spreading.

Fire officers said the intensity of the blaze and the severity of the damage would make investigating the cause difficult.

The derelict Parade Hotel has been badly damaged and may have to be demolished. Businesses said the fire was a further blow during a poor summer.

Demolition work begins on the badly damaged Parade Hotel

Bulldozing the building to help tackle the blaze gets underway. Firefighters wanted to control which way the building would fall to prevent any damage being caused
