Want to take action against Dreyfus? Here's how!

Are you sick of how JMJ's former record company DREYFUS treats Jean Michel and his fans? Not just the recent Youtube battle, also the whole cash-in on JM's success and the way DREYFUS keeps JMJ from re-releasing any old material like concert tapes etc...! You're free to have your own opinion, but it's pretty clear DREYFUS doesn't help us. All DREYFUS' got is big dollar signs in his eyes and it's quite clear DREYFUS dislikes JMJ and his fans. Want to take action?

Here's how:

Create a youtube account and contact any of the mods or admins with your name and name of your youtube account. (of course existing accounts may be submitted also)

Next steps will be revealed later on. Nico and I are working on it.
Don't worry, although any details are kept secret at this point, that's more because it's a bad prank rather than something illegal or copyright infringing. Stay tuned!

You see if Jean Michel says it's okay then it should be okay. Fans should not be in the middle of what is going on. :P
I've now given up uploading my covers on there.
I feel like writing to MySpace & giving them the link to that video where JMJ gives his permission.
Even though JMJ has given us permission,it's still going on & I can't beleive that,is it that FDM are trying to get to JMJ for saying that & in the process upsetting his fans?
Might upload my covers onto You Tube anyway & see what happens.
Don't care if my account gets deleted,I'll just set up another one.
Wait, I have an idea. That will screw Dreyfus and his company quite a bit

I'll wait for more info then before I decide if I join (or not) I kinda wanna no wot U up to b4 I attach mi name...

So far Dreyfus did nothing to our stuff uploaded there, probably because we got permision from them/jarre years ago to do this... (just don't know if they also remember so I'll keep checking it from time to time)

As a sidenote... AFAIK dreyfus doesn't own the copyrights of live video's anyway, they are not the PPL who prevent them from being released on DVD. After 1990 all the videorights of the concert were sold to various parties such as RTBF for Eic, 12Dots to M6, DR2 for AERO (concert) and MatchTV for acropolis. THEY are the ones who have the rights to release it on DVD...

JMJ sold the rights to those companies to raise funds for the events he created and thus Dreyfus has nothing to do with that...

Just so we are clear on things...

How do I file a DMCA counter notice?

The process for counter-notifications is governed by Section 512(g) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act: http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf

To file a counter notification with us, you must provide a written communication that sets forth the items specified below.

Please note that under Section 512(f) of the Copyright Act, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification may be subject to liability. Please also be advised that we enforce a policy that provides for the termination in appropriate circumstances of subscribers who are repeat infringers. Accordingly, if you are not sure whether certain material infringes the copyrights of others, we suggest that you first contact an attorney.

Elements of Counter-Notification

A sample counter notification may be found at: http://www.chillingeffects.org/dmca/counter512.pdf. To expedite our ability to process your counter notification, please use the following format (including section numbers):

Provide a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or San Francisco County, California if your address is outside of the United States), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided notification under subsection (c)(1)(C) or an agent of such person.
Include the following statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled."

Please note that when we forward the counter-notification, it includes your personal information. By submitting a counter-notification, you consent to having your information revealed in this way. We will not forward the counter-notification to any party other than the original claimant.

After we send out the counter-notification, the claimant must then notify us within 10 days that he or she has filed an action seeking a court order to restrain you from engaging in infringing activity relating to the material on YouTube. If we receive such notification we will be unable to restore the material. If we do not receive such notification, we may reinstate the material.

here's the reason why you SHOULDN'T do a counterclaim...

To put it in other words, you're getting sued when you reveal your identity, and even though you MIGHT win a court case (unlikely) you still have to pay a big lawyer bill...

The only one who can do this is JMJ himself, just so you know and don't try something STUPID...

Yep, maybe you are right Antigoon. But it sure sucks having all these Oxygene Tour 2008 concert footage and Oxygene covers removed.

All you do is speculate. And to be honest, that just made you look pretty stupid.

I'm not particularly fond of the tone of a few members in this thread, and since the plan to take action against Dreyfus was abandoned, I'd better lock things here.
