Hey hey :)

I think Marcus Miller played bass on Ethnicolor, Zoolookologie and some overdub on Zoolook (sliding).
Now I think FunkBass from Emulator was used on Diva and Zoolook, it sounds "sequenced".

Sounds VERY much like the one.

The main sound is 100 percent sure from Fairlight:
Zoolook :)

Hey people. This Emulator "funk bass" ISN'T bass from Zoolook :D. It sound creepy and cheesy. On Zoolook plays Marcus Miller. His style is very specific and only Marcus Miller plays so. This sample is propably a joke :). We hear on Zoolook normal electric slaped bass by Miller.

I don't have the clue about this bass, but it is a dream to think that Marcus Miller played bass for all tracks from Zoolook album and Music for Supermarket (diva bass & mps1 bass). Most of bass have been re-sequenced with Fairlight because the dry Marcus Bass didn't feet well with synthesizers. Then Zoolook & MFS basses are probably hybrid.

Jarre told he recorded ethnic voice around the world but it is false ! Jarre takes recorded from an ethnologist and used various samples from his recording with tributes and TV Shows.

I have some ethnic voices closed to some Ethnicolor voices.

Yes I know, it is Xavier Bellenger if I remember right. But JM Jarre explained in an interview that he recorded "ethnic voices" whereas it is not him but Bellenger.

The thing I want to say is that it is not because Marcus Miller has been
credited on Zoolook album that he played on each track.

I did lot's of research about Marcus Miller and the sound bass of Zoolook track is not his sound.
However it is more like Ethnicolor end part, Zoolookologie and slide on Zoolook track ( I have this sound Marcus Bass samples from Spectratronics Bass CD).

Eventually, Marcus Miller have played overdub for Zoolook and Diva tracks.

I'll try to cover Zoolook bass and drum, I will share you :)

I can the music of Marcus Miller very well and I am sure on Zoolook and Ethnicolor (fast part) we hear his playing. Of course he didn't play in every tracks. I made Zoolook ...

... and they are only few licks and they will be repeat with few fill ins or glides. But this is 100% playing of Marcus Miller. The EQ is a bit strange but the play technique is typical for him.

About Zoolook track, if you listen well, the glide sound and slap sound at beginning is not the same that the main bass.

Yes, I know, but this mean nothing. I suppose Marcus Miller recorded many various licks and effects like slides and he recorded it just normal dry. And then JMJ ans his people edited this licks with EQ, effect units ect.

I don't think EQ is the clue.

I was discuting on Bass Forum several days ago and people told me that the main bass sound in zoolook track is very special. The recording, the bass guitar and amp should be typical.

I don't think that with the same bass guitar you can have the glide and slap sound at beginbing and the main bass sound. It is too different.

Moreover you should know it is VERY difficult to play the same slap sound during an entire track.

Here the sound of Marcus Miller :

I don't think that the signature of a musician could change. Marcus Miller has is own unique sound.
