So, Jean Michel's music has undergone many reworkings throughout his albums and live performances. Examples include the PLD reworkings, the Aero compilation album and others.
I wanted to create a topic discussing what everyone thinks of the various remixing of tracks, which remixes do you like? which don't you like? Any remixes better than the original track?

For me the very slight changes to Ron's Piece in Aero are fantastic and make it better than the original album version, I like Magnetic Fields 2 on the Docklands live album.

Discuss :)

The reworks from Images and La Defense are perfect. Oxygene 4 has a great "instrumental break". The Europe in Concert version of Oxygene 4 is a bit like that.

Moscow version of RV4 is great too.

Like I said in my other thread, I prefer the 90-97 versions. Everything that was before is good too, but 90s mixes sound better and modern for the time. Everything that's been done since aero concert in 2001 is a bit too 'pop'.. I say 21st century is to blame, Jean Michel obviously didn't want to sound old so the latest indoor versions are -well..different. They are listenable, but not as enjoyable as the 90s reworks, imho.

Many reworking of tracks before the end of TTDOTS (I loved these reworking <3) have been for the best: Magnetic Fields Part 2 (any reworking honestly), Equinoxe Part 4 (PLD), Tout Est Blue (Light My Sky), Orient Express (Images) among many other tracks. But what I noticed very clearly is that everything Jarre did with the Aero reworkings is that most of those sucked: Oxygene 8, Fourth Rendez-Vous, Equinoxe Part 4. It was really untill he started the Oxygene/ Indoors tour that he got his act back together and reworked alot of the tracks again and improved them IMHO.
The old tracks sound like the good old once that I fell in love but just improved many times. If Jarre will release a compilation this year I really hope it will feature some of the newer reworkings of the Indoors concerts, these are freaking insane!

Especially Chronologie Part 6 from Rotterdam may I note
27-11-10: Ahoy Rotterdam
22-11-16: Heineken Music Hall Amsterdam
01-07-25: Palais royal de Bruxelles/Paleizen Plein Brussel

I agree. It's a stunning track. 8)

The PLD versions were great, and Magnetic Fields 2 from the Docklands is a true highlight.

Light my sky is a great rendition of tout est bleu, that sounded a bit pop-ish.
The oxygene 4 version in Aalborg is fantastic. IMHO.

Can we count in Fishing junks in hong Kong :?:

Vintage's 2011 cleaner live version is also a clever, moving piece !
And the <2010> version of rendez-vous 4, a heart rollercoaster delight. :)
