Pioneer of electronic music Jean-Michel Jarre guest speaker at Ghent Informal Summit

Jean-Michel Jarre, French composer, producer and pioneer of electronic music, Friday's guest speaker at the Ghent Informal Summit. Five hundred Flemish, Belgian and international "decision makers" media, cultural, economic and academic world come together in an informal way.

The Summit is under the patronage of honorary IOC president Jacques Rogge and President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. On the occasion of 100 years ahead, the event will take place in the premises of the forward this year.

This informal meeting is an annual guest speaker invited, and that this year the French composer Jean-Michel Jarre, specializes in making electronic music with using synthesizers. Jean-Michel Jarre is seen as one of the pioneers of the genre. In 1977 he broke with "Oxygène". He is well known for its spectacular outdoor concerts with lasers and fireworks, three of those shows took the Guinness Book of Records.

The Ghent Informal Summit takes place for the fifth year in a row place in the context of Ghent - Flanders Festival.

GHENT - Enterprising Flanders gathered Friday night in the Concert Hall of the Forward Informal summit in Ghent. With this event, the Festival of Flanders five hundred Flemish, Belgian and international decision makers from the media, bringing together the cultural, economic and academic world in an informal way.

Governor Jan Briers and Mayor Daniel Termon personally welcomed all attendees. After a speech by former President Dr. OIC. Ghent - Last Friday evening, Ondernemend Vlaanderen gathered in the Concert-room of Vooruit for the Informal Top of Ghent. With this event, the Festival of Flanders wants to get 500 Flemmish, Belgian and international decision makers from media, culture, the economical and academical world together on an informal basis.

Gov. Jan Briers and mayor Daniël Termon personally welcomed all invited. After a speech of ex-OIC president Dr. Jacques Rogge and Europea president Herman Van Rompuy (via a videoconferentie), the surprise of the evening turned out to be the keynote speaker Jean Michel Jarre, the French composer, producer and pioneer of electronic music. He's famous for his spectacular open air concerts with lasers and fireworks. One of his shows got 3.5 million watchers in 1997 in Moscow. 'If you realise that I got 8 million people with the Olympic Games and Jean Michel Jarre that amount of people on his own, you know this is a great achievement.' Jacques Rogge said.
