2 weeks ago I recieved a letter from Spain which said that I have won some money in some kind of lottery called "THE HISPANIC LOTTERY INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONS PROGRAM"!! It also says "EUROMILLONES"!?? in the letter!?? I have NEVER subscribed to anything on the internet or anywhere else before, and this letter is just coming out of the blue!! And, as I said, to my exact adress in Copenhagen!??

The letter came about 2 weeks after an italian musician transefered some money to me from a bank in Italy! (He was in my studio in Copenhagen 2 month ago)! This is the only connection I can see, co´s there´s also an italian adress in the letter!? I´ve written an email to him, but he hasn´t answered yet.

Why the connection?? Well, as the letter says: "Your agent bought this ticket in your name for this years international program"!??

What agent???

To be honest, I think this is fake!!! And I could also throw this letter away, but of course I would like to be 100 % sure before I do...

My mom has gotten phonecalls before in her house, where voices in english are saying "Congratulation, you have won this and that", and they problably want you to give up your creditcard numbers etc..

But this is a LETTER send to me, to my adress in Copenhagen!?? Send from Spain!!??

I can only think of this as fake!!!?? If so, they must send hundred of thousands of letters to people all over Europe!!?? I will go to the police to tjeck it out, just in case!! Co´s they want me to send bank account numbers etc... I have checked the website "Euromillones", but I don´t understand spanish...

Have any of you experienced the same??

Definite fake. Got a phonecall like that, and they wanted my credit card number to "transfer money," but they didn't say witch way, until I told them I was 12 years old. Then they hang on.

Such things are fake...
But I can really imagine you are a bit worried, because this is no virtual spam, but REAL spam......

If they only want your bankaccount number, thats something else than giving them your PIN-code or what they need to misuse your creditcard.

Only? You don't use the PIN-code online, do you?

No that was why I wrote " or what ever they need" but you can't buy online with just the bankaccount. If you want somebody to pay some money to you, you can give them your bankaccount nr. so they can tnasfer the money. If it was only the bankaccount nr. they wouldn't have enough info to misuse your bankaccount.
Anyway as you wrote in the beginning they wanted the creditnr. etc so yes they migt be trying to cheat you

I agree with Synthesist, but on the other hand, it doesn't work that way in all countries (UK for example...)

I doubt they can help, these "Lottery scams" and "Nigerian scams" surface randomly and are extremely hard to trace... I just mark them as spam...

I know , but I would like to hear, if they know, how common this is here in Denmark! I mean, this was a letter send to me from Spain!? and not a phonecall!

I´m just curious! I´m not expecting anything, I´m just gonna have a cosy chat with the police about it!

I have heard about different cheating types within this business but I have never heard about the letters.
Maybe the letters are a new way to convince the victims that they are reliable and not a simple cheating company. As you said, sending a letter is a more expensive way to cheat other people.

The thing spells S-P-A-M don't go on that mine!
