Well, that and a bit of manual editing...
What was destroyed at the Music For Supermarkets auction has been interpreted in a few different ways. The fact is the master plates (or "mother record" as JMJ called it) used to press the vinyl was burned in front of the auction participants. The multitrack tapes which were mixed to the master tape, which in turn was used to manufacture the master plate are still in existence. Danielle Feuillerat suggests that Dreyfus (now BMG) had / has the backup copy of the master tape (safety copy). JMJ (re)mixed the multitrack tapes or used the original (?) master tape for the Planet Jarre excerpt.
Yea, I'm curious if the safety copy is still there then it would be even easier to just ... use that for... some kind of backup release.... ? Then there is no point in chasing the vinyl, we need to chase the safety copyPat Gleeson wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 4:23 pmWhat was destroyed at the Music For Supermarkets auction has been interpreted in a few different ways.
