Long time ago I posted here some of my music (Raging Planet part 2 and 4) but was inactive for quite a bit of time.
Now I wanted to share with you some fun project that combines electronics and music.
I have been JMJ fan since my childhood and I dreamed about playing his music, but back then (in the early 80's) I could not afford any synth at all and I tried to build my own synth but those efforts were not very successful. Life went on, I bought some synths and was able to play, but the old dream of building my own synth that can play all those marvelous sounds of JMJ remained.
Fast forward to now, technology improved and now I was able to finally build my own do-it-yourself synthesiser that is capable of making all those great sounds by JMJ.
So I just wanted to share a little demo of it (part of Equinoxe 4)
All sounds (except drums) are produced by my own synth. No extra processing. Played live with the help of arpeggiator that is part of the synth. The synth is currently 4-way multitimbral. It is based on Teensy 4 microcontroller with PCM5102 DAC. Also used is ESP32-P4 for the display and STM32F103 for analog pot reading and MIDI routing. Plus I have build velocity and polyphonic after-touch sensitive keyboard that controls this synth. Polyphonic aftertouch is demonstrated in the other video (Chariots of Fire):
